I have donated money to the relief effort, but beyond that, there's not much I can do. I don't have (and don't claim to have) any psychic abilities at all. I can't locate missing persons, I've never said I helped police solve crimes. If you can really do what you claim to do, please use your powers to save countless lives.

Where were the precognitions warning of the impending disaster? I think this has been asked of psychics about every major disaster for centuries. The answer is that they have no real abilities and therefore couldn't know just like the rest of us. I'm not holding my breath, but if he had any b***s at all (and I seriously doubt he does), Larry King should secretly amass his favorite Psychic Celebrities (unknown to each other), have them all sit down in front of him and ask them why not a single psychic among you predicted this world shaking event.

If I knew that someone planted a bomb in a building, and easily in time could have notified authorities that it was there, but instead just let the events play out with many people dying and getting seriously injured, doesn't that make me an accomplice ... even if I had no involvement in planning/planting the bomb?

Probably not, since I don't think you could ascribe intent to the earthquake (unless you believe the HAARP theory, of course )

Not to mention the fact that you'd have to grant credibility to the whole precognition thing to find them culpable of withholding life-saving information.

And I don't think the people mentioned in the CFI piece even believe their own claims.

When it is about frauds- people who fake skills to steal from others semi-legally? Yes!

We both seem to have interest in people who cannot take care of themselves for whatever reason including systems of oppression from many sources. These frauds are just as bad in their own way as some of the people who have oppressed the Haitians - especially, for a direct comparison, those who controlled them by way of fear of voudon. Oppression is oppression is oppression - but psychic/psychological oppression is worse to me because if you believe the power is real you can see no way to fight it.

Thanks for the clarification. I understand your reasoning. Most "psychics" I've met appear to have been sincerely motivated by a desire to alleviate suffering. I don't share their of beliefs but don't regard their fraud as any worse than that of, for example, much more pervasive advertising agencies.

However, I haven't followed the debates about "psychics" on this forum so am ignorant of the specific history. I was just a bit shocked by the graphic imagery!

Thanks! If you have time, you might want to look into Sylvia Browne, John Edwards and similar. They truly have to know they are frauds. Even William Shatner did a number on Edwards recently in an interview - and Browne is unbelievably callous as to what she is doing.

And yet when they don't, people still believe they have powers and pay money for them. Not much incentive to hang their heads in shame.

Sadder still some of them manage to weasel out of it by claiming they can't predict things that are predestined or meant to be. All those people were predestined to die that way, according to that way of thinking. Or it was karmic and not supposed to be changed, hence no psychic would be able to predict it.
