Merged All things Trump + Russia

Re: "Proof" that the computer hacks were internal rather than external
Let me get this straight....

1) Some web site that most people have probably never heard of,
2) quotes an individual who's name is not released (just noted as "The Forensicator"... I thought Trump was supposed to be against "anonymous sources")
3) who is basing the analysis on file timestamps (something that can easily be messed up, if files are copied/repacked/regenerated on computers with incorrect clock settings)
4) and who's analysis contains many statements about possibilities and how things COULD have been done (i.e. they produce no strong proof but only some vague guesses)

And you consider that to be some sort of proof that there was no Russian hacking.
In case you failed to find the analysis, here's the direct link.
Ummm... go back and look at my post. Should be pretty obvious I did go through and look at the original analysis. (Points 3 and 4 show why the analysis is jumping to a premature and probably incorrect conclusion.)

If you know the website or the real name of the analyst is obviously completely irrelevant.
Not everyone is gong to have a technical background and/or rational thinking skills to understand and/or debunk the article. (I did, that's where I addressed the issue in points 3 and 4 above).

If the site in question had a higher degree of journalistic integrity or skills, they would have done their own analysis, done some secondary investigation, or at least stuck to sources that had a better-known track record than "Some guy who has a word press site". However, your assumption that "This anonymous guy with a word press site must be correct because you have access to the original data" is foolish reasoning.

In case you failed to find the analysis, here's the direct link. It includes a link to the Guccifer files, so you have everything to reconstruct what is done there, if you have the skills. If you know the website or the real name of the analyst is obviously completely irrelevant.
Your indirection is something to behold. First you link to sketchy source #1. When challenged, you link to sketchy #2, who is linked from sketchy #1. But if we want to get to source data, we need to follow sketchy #2 link to sketchy #3. None of whom I've been given any reason to trust so much as a pixel.

Even within the context of garbage, this Kevin Bacon business is highly unimpressive. Sharpen your pencil a tad bit CE.

With apologies to phiwum ... :boggled:

This initial copying activity was done on a system where Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) settings were in force. Most likely, the computer used to initially copy the data was located somewhere on the East Coast.
There we have it, a 400lb guy in New Jersey!

The link came with no assumptions from me and the ad hominem character of your first two "points" led me to believe that you have had problems to find the study which is only linked indirectly. That you complain that the author doesn't claim to have definitve proof is the icing on the cake of your laughable dismissal.

Christ on a stick. Donny Jr (The one without the orange skin) just released smoking gun emails.

Is he just bragging or honestly that stupid?

Jared was at this meeting. How isn't anyone moving to cancel his security clearance?

Possibly neither, and that may also go for his initial admission as well. If he knew all this was coming out, he may think it is better to come from him. Or he may just be arrogant and stupid.

You posted the link with the comment "no there's a surprise" along with an emoji indicating sarcasm.

Pretty obvious that you were assuming the site and the information contained within was valid, since you bothered to link to it and provided sarcastic commentary.

I provide an analysis about why the article was likely full of bunk, based on information that was provided by the wordpress site.

I pointed out faults with the analysis that was provided. My own analysis is based on years of software development, across multiple platforms (including multiple Linux distributions, multiple Windows versions, as well as various flavors of Unix.)

The fact that you find my analysis "laughable" says more about your willingness to believe any bunk as long as it supports your pre-defined pro-Trump narrative.

You want to be believed? Find a more reputable source than "some guy on Wordpress" and a web site that has a more well-known reputation than what you provided.

That wasn't an analysis. It was flat out denial not even understanding that the original data that has been on the net unchanged since publication by Guccifer 2.0 was delivered with the material. Core points aren't even mentioned by your "analysis" and if you want to go the road of metadata easily manipulated, I'm curious what you say about the name of the Russian intelligence guy and other elephant traces leading to oh-so-capable Russia in the crowdstrike paid-for-by-democrats "analysis". Actually, I'm not. Not in for another surprise... ;)

Is there any reason to assume that being under oath would make it any more likely that he'll tell the truth given that the AG has already perjured himself without negative consequences ?

Sessions was asked questions easily answered by "I don't recall." And at that point all they had were lies on his security clearance form.

Junior has already given different answers, some of them absurd like, he didn't know who he was meeting with. He's not under suspicion for misstatements on a security form. He admitted he was expecting dirt on Clinton.

Unless he pleads the 5th, which I think is the most likely, it wouldn't take much to trip him up.

'The Stink Without a Secret' by Craig Murray

"After six solid months of co-ordinated allegation from the mainstream media allied to the leadership of state security institutions, not one single scrap of solid evidence for Trump/Russia election hacking has emerged."

Are you citing this as something you are in agreement with? This is nothing more than the Trump camp talking point and while it might sell to the base, it has nothing to do with the reality that there is an ongoing investigation that appears to be gathering more and more data every day. Since when is 6 months the magic time frame to find evidence?

Today we have explosive emails that are doing more than smoking.

He was caught red handed, the NYT told him they had the emails and did he have any comment.

I suspect these idiots have no clue they did anything wrong.

And on another front, CNN noted they have file clips of interviews with Jr laughing off any contact with the Russians. I'm sure they'll be cuing them up for replays soon.
