Merged All things Trump + Russia

Don't be silly. Perjury is only impeachment worthy is a Democrat does it over something completely irrelevant

Like a blowjob.

But a Republican can lie to Congres about secret meetings with Russians.

No double standard.

Upshot is that Sergey Gorkov flew into New Jersey to meet with Jared Kushner, then over to Japan to report back to Vladimir Putin. It remains unclear whether the meeting was about business, diplomacy, or both.
This thing's spilling over onto another whiteboard. If this is meant to be surreptitious it smacks of remarkable naivety. Which I find entirely credible.

So, what, 3-1 against? 5-2? Around about there.

That Trump would attempt to invoke it or being successful at invoking it?

I'd say he's probably not that stupid. So 3 to 1 against him attempting it and 100 to 1 against it being successful.

Irony is that if one of Putin's goals was the lifting of US Sanctions, that has backfired;no way that happens now. That is the one thing that the GOP in Congress have been pretty consistent on standing up to El Trumpo on.

And he may get even more harsh sanctions when Trump leaves office.

Nunes hoisted by his own petard.

The Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee asked U.S. spy agencies late last year to reveal the names of U.S. individuals or organizations contained in classified intelligence on Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, engaging in the same practice that President Trump has accused the Obama administration of abusing, current and former officials said.

The chairman of the committee, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), has since cast the practice of “unmasking” of U.S. individuals and organizations mentioned in classified reports as an abuse of surveillance powers by the outgoing Obama administration.

...

According to a tally by U.S. spy agencies, the House Intelligence Committee requested five to six unmaskings of U.S. organizations or individuals related to Trump or Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton between June 2016 and January 2017. Officials familiar with the matter said that the committee’s requests focused on the identities of U.S. organizations that had been hacked by the Russians in 2016. Officials declined to say how many of the requests came from Democrats vs. Republicans.

No, that is not what I did.
Wrong yet again. Here, I'll refresh your memory:

Most of congress, then? Seriously, how many mansions and luxury items do the Clintons, the Kennedys, the Obamas, the McCains, etc. have? Pretty much any of our well-established senators or house representatives have a substantial volume of luxuries, mansions, etc. as a result of them being involved in politics for their whole careers.

I suspect this is substantially true of most life-long politicians in any country.

Somehow, some way, poor you is constantly misconstrued. A word of advice: sharpen your notably dull pencil.

The entire presidency is a lesson is a dangers of basing your country around the impunity of the rich.
I think the ultimate lesson will be on what the country is based on, which is the antithesis of inherited status. Trump's status is founded on his inherited wealth. His father made the fortune as a man of respect : Donald must have been a sore disappointment to him. Jared, again, chose well parentally, otherwise did what now? Wears a suit well, married endogamously, worked for father.

Contrast, for instance, Putin.

Take a look at the discussion that your quote came from. Overall, it's about Putin much more than Trump and involves Emily's Cat being accused of supporting Putin.
I was following the discussion. The EC post I replied to (#1829) concerned itself exclusively with DJT... Putin's name did not appear and was not indirectly referenced, and my reply followed suit.

I'd disagree that it's "cringe level hypocrisy" myself.
You're right, that was hyperbole. Set against Trump's non-stop, nuclear warhead caliber hypocrisy, it was run of the mill.

As for the point I made, that was assuming that you had been actually paying attention to that thread of conversation, rather than just jumping in and throwing out something unrelated.
Your original assumption was correct, but the highlighted accusation isn't.

Trump administration Lying POS

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — The White House and a Russian state-owned bank have very different explanations for why the bank’s chief executive and Jared Kushner held a secret meeting during the presidential transition in December.

The bank maintained this week that the session was held as part of a new business strategy and was conducted with Kushner in his role as the head of his family’s real estate business. The White House says the meeting was unrelated to business and was one of many diplomatic encounters the soon-to-be presidential adviser was holding ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Another Russian contradiction that doesn't add up.

I expect things to get worst for the Trump administration as investigations continue to uncover more damaging details about the Russian conection, and if Trump dares to pull out his executive privilege card, it will only make things worst for him.
