Merged All things Trump + Russia

You leave the obvious caveat out of that scenario and that is, why Trump doesn't trust the agencies that are investigating him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Of course he doesn't want US intelligence agencies nosing around in his business. His business is not ending the war in Syria and Middle East peace. Those are his fantasies. Trump's business model is shaping up more and more to be tapping into rich foreign investors for cash, offering them US goodies like citizenship and real estate ripe for money laundering. It's quite the profitable business model from the looks of it.

To be fair about the pay for citizenship, as a country, we actually do want money and jobs flowing into our country and, if we were going by what seems to be the stated purpose of those visas, it's an excellent idea. Unfortunately, in practice, currently, it seems to be quite easy to be abused. The abuse is trouble, yes, but not the concept itself.

That is a matter of perception and an issue I have no opinion on it. Trump did talk a lot against them. I might bet on him thinking they are illegitimate.

Just saying so does not make it so. What objective or inter-subjective arguments would Trump have to think so?

Remember "illegitimate" is quite different from "inconvenient" or even "unfriendly".

It is if the agencies are illegitimate.

Your opinion is that the incoming President should trust the government of Russia over the US government? So much so you have a need to hide those conversations from our government?

Sounds as if you are planning to stage a coup d'etat, not assume the duties within the confines of American law.

I don't believe there's much difference in DJT's mind. If he decides what's true and what's false based on how it affects his ego, I would imagine he can do the same for legitimate and illegitimate. The intelligence agencies "attacked" him (and triggered his paranoia) by saying Russians hacked the Democrats.

BobTheCoward seems to argue that he can think of legitimate reasons to establish secret channels through the Russian embassy and past US services - "legitimate" as in actually, really, legal and in the larger US interest, as opposed to merely okay inside DJT's head.

Nope, I only meant in Trump's head. I don't think there is an objective standard of legitimate.

The problem is figuring out if something is his conniving stupidity or regular stupidity. This is a person that wants to implement a tax policy favorable to him but refuses to nominate the various officials that would help implement it.

To be fair, so what the program might do some good?

It doesn't change the fact it is unchecked and ripe for abuse and clearly the whole Trump clan has been abusing the program to get funding for projects that legitimate banks would not fund. And then there is the whole issue with suspicious money laundering deals.

So if Trump believes he is right, that's good enough for you?

But you have no opinion. Riiiight
