All charges dropped against Osama Bin Laden in US Federal court..

The thread has already been started. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread717845/pg1
Osama Bin Laden was never indicted for 9/11 but he was indicted thirteen years ago for blowing up two U.S. embassies in Africa. Now it appears the charges in that case have been dropped. Is it fair for "the most wanted man in the world" to get off on all charges against him? He will go down in history as not being convicted of ANYTHING!! No charges, no body, no nothing?? Oh i forgot, we have your "word".

Everyone involved agrees he is dead. The organisation that he headed is not much better.

No charges, no evidence, no trial, no body. It's a win win win win.

Bill, I'm predicting Red will dodge the question, like he has with producing evidence of Larry Silverstein's "windfall".

I agree, Bob. Let's watch.

Charges were set aside after his death. You can't try a dead man, he can't assist in his own defense. There is no trial that I'm aware of where a dead man was knowingly brought to trial.

There's plenty of evidence supporting the charges, hence his being placed on the Ten Most Wanted list in the first place.

Again, you can't try a dead man. It's a pointless exercise because you can't mete out punishment if he's found guilty nor publicly apologize to him if it's found that he was unjustly accused.

We had a body. It's not like he just got up and disappeared with no clue as to where he went. There's not a modern trial out there that I know of where they wheel a dead body into the courtroom for the jury to convict.

Tell me Red, what exactly would you have liked to see as an outcome in this situation?

There is nothing to be gained by proving anything beyond what is already indisputably know about ObL. He has no assets which need to be siezed for reparations

Any further court procedings would compromise vital intelligence data. There are reports of the hit team's finding a lot of documents when they took him out. We definitely do not want anyone else to know what was in those documents, because some of it may lead to the identification of other persons of interest.

We need those people not to even be aware that they are being watched, lest they go underground to pull their next feat of arms.

So you acknowledge that Navy Seal team six killed him in a raid across the Pakistani border?

Nope. Obama's claim ensures that OBL would never have to face his charges, whether he was killed in May or before.

I could only acknowledge that the Seal team killed OBL if evidence were released.

From 9/12/01 I had always hoped that OBL would be tried, faced with the evidence against him. The way it was done at Nuremberg.

I would volunteer to shed a tear or two together with you over this, if it helps you overcome the situation.

Then you are not aware of the single greatest trial in history: Pope Stephen VI determined that his predecessor, Pope Formosus, had committed several acts against the church. So he dug him up, sat his cadaver on a throne, acted as the prosecuting attorney (including questioning the dead Pope), and then cut off three of his fingers, declared all of his papal proclamations nullified, buried him, dug him up and dumped him in the river.

In an ironic twist, Stephen fell out of favor, was murdered and all of his papal pronouncements were nullified. That included his verdict against Formosus. This makes Formosus not only one of the very few dead people ever convicted of a crime, but one of the even fewer to win on appeal.

Apples and oranges. If al-Qaeda had surrendered to US forces, you might have a point. But they haven't, so you don't. Osama was the leader of a terrorist organization that was and still is at war with the USA. Thus he is eligible to be whacked the same as any other enemy combatant. No trial necessary.

PS: How much does it suck that you now have to incorporate Obama in your inside jobby job fantasies? I remember you talking about how you like(d) him. Or is your cognitive dissonance so strong that it doesn't bother you?

Testimony from his family and al Qaeda isn't enough for you?
