Marianne MacFarlane, 34, was a passenger on Flight 175. She lived with her mother in Revere, Massachusetts. Marianne worked at Logan airport and was heading to Las Vegas on a mini-vacation. She left behind her mother, Anne, and two brothers George and Joeseph.

At one time or another most of Marianne's family had worked at the airport. Like her, her mother was a customer service representative for United Airlines.

An excerpt from The Boston Globe (September 8, 2002)

The MacFarlane family lived in the old Irish section of Revere, in two double-deckers connected by a driveway and a pool. Anne and Marianne shared one, and the two MacFarlane sons lived next door. It was George MacFarlane, a Chelsea firefighter, who heard of the first plane crash and urged his mother, Anne, to turn on the television.

As a commentator spoke of the horror unfolding in New York City, a second plane careered into the south tower. Anne watched as her only daughter was murdered.

While she didn't know at the time that Marianne was on the plane, an unease grew. Anne at first waited at home with her sons for some piece of news, but then felt an urge to go to the airport. She needed to know. United Airlines employees were gathered around the ticket counter. When they saw her approach, some began to cry.

He was a keen photographer and had worked in that capacity for his local paper, The Bedford Minuteman. Mr. Mariani set up a darkroom in the bathroom of their house and taught his daughter Lauren Peters how to develop film. "I loved going in there with him." she said. Wherever Mr Mariani went, he was sure to have his trusty Minolta camera with him. "He just loved taking pictures. Everyone knew him," she said.

Two hours after she said goodbye to her husband, Ellen Mariani still waited at Chicago's Midway Airport as the nation's air system shut down. When she told fellow travelers that her husband was behind her on a United flight from Boston to Los Angeles, "They just looked at me--and the looks on their faces. It was awful," she said.

Ellen Mariani posted this message to her husband:

I, as your wife, have searched for sane answers to what happened on that beautiful, sunny, warm Tuesday, September 11, 2001. You, Neil, were so tanned and fit, happy to be leaving with me before dawn for Boston’s Logan Airport. You and I were traveling on separate planes to the California wedding of my daughter, Gina, your step-daughter. You decided to go out for the wedding at the very last minute, and to help pay for the ticket, we held garage sales together.

Neil, I will never forget when we said goodbye at Boston Airport. Neil, you as a gentleman were always carrying heavy items for me, and that morning, you carried inside the terminal two large boxes full of toys for our grand-kids that were to be there for the wedding as flower girl and ring bearer.

You kissed me at the curb and said goodbye. Then you kissed me again inside and said “See you, Ellen. I’ll arrive three minutes after your plane lands,” and walked away. But suddenly, you came back, gave me a third kiss and a big hug. It was then I noticed you seemed nervous. I thought it was because you were not used to flying. You then said goodbye for the third time, then left. I looked back to catch a last glance at you, Neil, but you were gone and out of sight.

Neil, you never made it to California for Gina’s wedding that September 15, 2001. I left two hours before you and had a scheduled layover in Chicago. It was there that I found out what had happened to you. Your plane, United Airlines Flight 175, had crashed into the second tower of the World Trade Center. You, my husband, were gone in a ball fire. The September 15th wedding of Gina’s went on in defiance of what had happened on September 11th.

Now as I stood as a new widow of four days, Gina asked me to give her away to be married. I wore two yellow roses, and made a toast in remembrance of you.

Neil, my life as a widow is now very still and has an eerie feeling. I can not hear your voice, or see your handsome face. Many reminders make it hard, like your birthday two days before Christmas. Also, I remember July 30th, which would have been our 14th wedding anniversary.

There is nothing left of you, no resting place or gravesite to visit, just an empty hole in my heart, and the heartache of life without you, Neil. I realize that the sun has shone once again as it did on September 11, 2001, when we parted for the last time, you as my husband, but it does not seem the same. I have wanted to be with you, Neil, so many times since that day and had wished I was with you on that plane, giving each other comfort, like we had done so many times throughout our marriage. This was not to be in the plans God had for us.

Now it is my job to go on without you, Neil. I will always have the memories that we shared together, and I thank God for you being my husband for 13 years. Now, I walk all alone for with death did we part. My hope and prayer to God is that we all find peace and comfort and support one another, as we go on living without our loved ones.

He was a family man who would rather be at home with his wife and son than anywhere else on earth. Ace had a special love for children and children in turn took an immediate liking to him. Kids could instantly recognize his lack of pretense and his sense of mischief. In Ace's name a childrens foundation has been established "to bring smiles to children's faces"

Bailey also played professionally as a member of the Edmonton Oilers during the 1978-1979 season. He was one of the old veterans to show a young Wayne Gretzky the ropes when he first signed with the Oilers. Several weeks ago, I was in a movie theatre here in Edmonton getting my usual large fruitopia and bag of Maynard's swedish berries. The teenager behind the counter rings up the purchase, which came out to exactly 9.11$ (with tax). The kid chuckles at it, then looks at me and says "It's ok, we're not Americans". I said right back to him, without getting angry or taking offense, "Actually, one of the passengers on UA flight 175 when it smashed into the north tower was a player and talent scout for the Oilers" (Canadian cities revere their hockey teams nearly as much as Jesus, just mentioning the home teams name is like invoking Mohammed in Mecca. Even in Calgary!). A girl working behind the counter nearby said "Yeah, I remember hearing that" while looking at her co-worker with an expression that said "Nice going, DUMBASS".

And I quietly walked away feeling quite satisfied with myself.

Please document and source your claim that Ellen Mariani is not a no-planer.

I think you are mistaken in that claim, at least in part. I say that because Ellen Mariani has called attention to the lack of any other confirmed family members from Flight 175 in situations where such persons would be expected.

Granted, that claim is not iron-clad. I mention solely in conjunction with the claim that Ellen Mariani is not a no-planer. She might well be a NO PLANER, or someone who's train of thought and involvment in 9/11 matters places her on her way to being one. More than that, I cannot say.
