Dear Folksies,

Alaska has gone Vermont!! (no permit required)

What will happen to concealed carry permit holders elsewhere when Alaska has shootouts on every
corner!!??

...or, better, what will happen to CCW elsewhere when Alaska DOESN'T have
shootouts on every corner!!??

And I quote...

"HB 102, by Anchorage Representative Eric Croft, adopts the so-called
“Vermont Carry” position on carrying concealed weapons. Unlike every other
state, Vermont never enacted laws to make it illegal to carry a concealed
weapon. Under the bill, Alaska law is changed to allow anyone who may
legally carry a firearm to also carry it concealed without having to obtain
a special permit."

Let freedom ring baby!

Fortunately Alaska is very low on my list of places to visit.
It shall remain that way.

With freedom comes responsibility. I like gun carry permits since you have to take a basic safety and operation class to get one.

I think it should be opposite of what they are doing. Instead of permitting anyone who can legally purchase a handgun to carry one concealed, I think they should let anyone who can get a concealed carry permit buy a handgun. Either way you get a background check.

ohio may very well go this route if the courts find the current ban on concealed carry to be illegal. i plan on purchasing a handgun to carry (probably and HK P7M13 or a SIG P228 if i can find one i can afford, maybe a Walther P99 if i can find some pre-ban mags for something less than $100 a piece). i don't feel very safe in cincinnati, and unfortunately the university i attendd isn't very safe. if the 1994 "crime" law isn't resigned next year, i'll definitely get a P99 whether there is concealed carry in this state or not, just as a home defence item.

The walther has a much nicer trigger than the sig or hk. I still prefer a Kimber for trigger pull, but nothing quite compares to a 1911 trigger.

Don't worry Reks, 5 judges have already ruled the ban unconstitutional. Its just a matter of time before we are free citizens again.

I'm from Hamilton. If your living in Cinci and you aren't armed, your crazy.

The carry ban is defacto unenforceable in Hamilton County. The police can arrest you for carrying (how are they going to know unless you have to defend you life though), but the court cannot prosecute because of the rulling from the court of appeals, which has jurasdiction over Hamilton County. More info for you here:

Cincinnati has turned into a major embarrassment for all of Ohio; because of the crime

i love the trigger feel on the P7. the system that it uses basically makes it a single action, but i think the sear release is better than any factory 1911 i've used. now my uncle's Swenson custom on the other hand....;) i'll be happy with any of the pistols, it just depends on how much money i have.

The SIG I had was a piece of junk. It would throw the spent cartridges right back in your face or you'd have a hot one land in your shirt pocket. You had to hold it sideways like some dumbass gangster.

then you got a lemon. or it had a broken extractor. or a spring that needed to be replaced. SIG Sauer manufactures some of the finest firearms on earth.

There already are. The little LA import imitation gangbangers shoot each other and their neighbors all the time. No changes there.

Most people with handguns (and there are a bunch) up here have 44 Mag revolvers. The excuse is that the 44 can stop a brown bear. Many of the hikers and campers carry these out in the woods. Also many of the serious drunks - and they shoot up the place all the time anyway. There are not many road signs up here without bullet holes.

The usual advice is that you better file the front site off that 357 or automatic because it will hurt a lot less when the bear shoves it up your wazoo.

I doubt that removing the permit requirement will make any difference in crime or violence here. I don't see how it could get worse.

Not in Indiana you don't. And the permit is printed on a little paper business card, and costs $25. That's all. But it's otherwise a great idea to have permits.
