Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth sequel stresses spiritual argument on climate

Man, this sequel is going to open the doors for all new types of malarky. It'll basically distract the public from the real issue at hand and shift the argument to whether or not Al Gore is a poop head.

He needn't have bothered.

I disagree. Political groups on the left and the right engage in a known practice of pre-ordering bulk copies of a book in order to drive its sales up and get them on bestseller lists. Whether Gore is actually connected to such a group or not, it's not unlikely that at least some of this has gone on, not to mention that his name alone is probably enough to draw plenty of sales on its own whether people support him strongly or not.

Example of the latter: I own two of Obama's books, which have obviously contributed to his book sales, but I bought them specifically because he was a candidate at the time and I wanted more information about him specifically, not because I was a huge fan. I highly doubt I was the only person to do so.

Example of the former: book store orders are often a good indicator of what goes on bestseller lists, which adds to promotion of a book, which adds to sales. How else did Palin's new book make it to bestseller before it even came out? You can be fairly certain Gore's publications follow a similar publicity/promotion route.
 
I think perhaps Al Gore has reasoned thus:
1) Everyone who opposes us is evil or stupid.
2) The evil are not going to come over to our side. They are evil, duh.
3) So how do we snag the stupid?

Replace "evil" with "conspiracy theorist" and "stupid" with "gullible" and I agree with you.
