Al Gore Getting A Divorce

Of all the marriages, over half end in divorce. How many of the rest do you think are truly happy?

I think it's a rarity that a couple stays happy until one passes away.

Over half? Do you mind if I ask what your source for that stat is?

Blaming the election is a little different than blaming Bush, wouldn't you say?

And is either terribly likely? It strikes me as somewhat similar to blaming Ted Turner's divorce from Jane Fonda on the Atlanta Braves losing to the Minnesota Twins in the 1991 World Series. Post hoc ergo propter hoc, never mind that both divorces came ten years after the supposed precipitating event.

This was a bit depressing to hear. With so many boomers soon to retire and spent a bunch of time together, this may become more common. (invest in lawyers) When we were looking for a house, the real estate agent showed us a house from a friend that recently divorced. Turned out he was a manager that tried to over-manage his spouse when he retired--she resigned.

I don't know. I'm not privy to the state of their marriage prior to the elction and neither are you.

Elections seem to be very stressful and events. I can understand it playing havok with a marriage especially ones that are already on the ropes. Either way, they aren't "blaming Bush".

I feel dirty because I honestly don't care about the personal lives of politicians. Brainster made me do it.

Divorced? Don't care.
Marriage trouble? Don't care.
Bondage freak? Don't care.
What about anti-gay crusader who has sex in airport restrooms, hires rentboys, etc.? What about pro-family values politicians who have children out of wedlock or have been divorced numerous times? What about someone who wins an Oscar for a documentary on energy consumption and global warming who has a huge mansion and a huger electric bill?

You've got to take an interest sometimes.

Sure. Hypocrisy is interesting. I don't think Al Gore was a marriage crusader though.

I read as part of an agreement to the divorce, the internet is to be split 50/50.
