So, talk-radio listeners are knuckle-dragging morons who are just too stupid to be liberals.
If this is such a well-known fact, you'd think somebody would have pointed this out to the folks who started Air America, a liberal talk-radio station, before they went on the air, nothing that it would mean they won't have any listeners.
It's interesting how "fact" was not heeded before they sunk millions into this venture, but is resurrected now as an obvious truth -- once "Air America" went bust.
Can you say, "sour grapes"?

Boy, that does really sum it all up very nicely. But I imagine some of those who say those things will react by claiming that they "could have seen it coming", or even that they did warn that it wouldn't work, for the reasons they state.
It's not just a talk radio issue. It's an issue of zealotry. I'd like to say it's only liberals, but conservatives do it as well. But it's that whole contempt for the other side thing that is shared by such zealots. The other side is clearly stupid and worthless and evil. Any failures of our own are only because the people are too stupid to accept how right we are. It's not our policies. It's that people are stupid, and we are smart.
And of course, they convince themselves that the best way to get people on their side is by telling them they are too stupid to be on their side. Because nothing is more compelling to people than being told they are stupid.

And I would like to point out that a great many Right Wing talk shows flopped for the same reason Air America did....it was lousy radio. For every Limbaugh, they are a dozen conservative wannabes that failed badly.
Running a business is hard. The problem with Air America is that it was choke-full of people who knew exactly how to run some unimportant, trivial thing like the entire country, or the entire world, the the coming progressive project to engineer the future of mankind, but was somewhat short of people who knew how to run a radio station.
It's a bit like George McGovern. Running for president, he considered himself 100% qualified to run the entire country. After losing his presidential bid to Nixon in 1972, he bought an inn to while away his retirement years. Sure enough, the inn went belly-up within a year, and the befuddled McGovern was quoted to the effect that he never realized how difficult it is to run a small business.
