The problem is, what is obvious sarcasm to you is taken seriously by others. Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet.

No matter how obviously absurd you think what you wrote is (and therefore the sarcasm seems obvious to you), somebody had already posted just that, and worse, in dead earnest.

Ahmadinejad has been playing games for years now, always saying he doesn't actually mean something when he says it. The "holocaust" conference in 2006 was pretty unambiguous.

For something as cut and dried as the Holocaust, there really isn't much room for debate on the magnitude or horror. The "scholars" included David Duke.

Usually you get the old "Ahmadinejad is wrong, but the the Jews are also bad" followed by some rant.

A.k.a. "root cause" thinking: of course I think Mr. X, who said all those of group Y should be killed, was wrong to say that -- but what eeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil things have group Y done to make him say that?

It applies not only to Ahmadinejad and Jews, but to Bin Laden and Americans, to (say) David Irving ("I am a baby Aryan / not Jew or Rastafarian...") and Blacks and/or Jews, and, in general, to any scumbag you wish to support in his bigoted hatred while maintaining plausible deniability.

Oh, and P.S.

Those who really don't care what so-and-so thinks, usually don't bother to post replies to so-and-so telling him they don't care what he thinks.

I suppose you didn't stop to think that once you are on record praising the internet's ambiguity as "the best thing" about it, it becomes quite clear and unambiguous what you believe.
