It really is shocking to me that we have a country in the world that has done this to its people. Of course, not forgetting in the slightest all the other terrible things the Taliban have done. Truly their dark ages. What hope is there for them?

But..but...we were promised that this was a New Taliban right after the US pullout and the Taliaban takover.
I don't want to reopen a debate about whether the US pullout form the Stan was the right move or not, but a lot the people who wanted a pullout seemed not to want to face the consquences for the people of Afghanistan so made up this whole idea of kinder gentler Taliaban.. You might argue it was a lost cause, but sill no facing the consquences was silly.
