>Sigh<
I guess there's no need for me to reveal any of my deep dark secrets here, since I won't be able to attend TAM2. Kitty advises that the scars and burns, and some of the fractures, will heal better if I stay put rather than doing any travelling. (Also, she thinks there may be some new and highly contagious infection on my face, near the mouth area, so if I were to go out in public she said she'd need to cover that area very securely with lots of tape to prevent exposure.)
So, like I said, no need to reveal any of my secrets. But this does seem like a good opportunity to reveal one of Kitty's biggest secrets:
=> KittyNH has more cats than anyone else I've ever known <=
-(And that's saying a lot, because I've known people who were well into the double digits, felinewise.)-
These are not just everyday cats, either! I think she may have several ordinary cats upstairs, but these that she keeps in the basement are a special breed which I've never seen before.
These cats are all very small -- mostly about the size of kittens. They have adorable tiny feet. The light's kind of dim down here, so I can't make out colors very well, but most of them look to be gray or brown. They have very pretty (albeit small) faces, and a very intelligent look in their eyes.
The most distinctive thing about them, though, is their tails! I have never seen cats with tails like these before!
Now I confess I am partial to big fluffy tails such as Maine Coon cats have, and often feel a little sorry for cats with lesser tails. But these tails are so long and so skinny that it almost makes up for the relative furlessness. Some of the tails are longer than the cats!
These cats are extremely shy. Most cats I've known (and I've known a lot) take a liking to me very quickly. (I think it's the nutritional-yeast aroma in my sweat. Many cats are especially fond of nuzzling my armpits.) But none of Kitty's cats has let me pick them up yet, or even come close enough for me to pet them. They seem to be interested in me, though, and occasionally if I sit very still one will come over within a few feet of me, stand on its hind legs, and stare up at me. (And sometimes they scamper over me when they think I'm sleeping.)
I commented to Kitty that it must be expensive feeding so many cats, even ones as small as these cats are, and she said that it would be except that her visitors help out with that. I asked if maybe I could help feed them (since I love feeding cats, and it's often a good way to get shy cats to become less skittish). Kitty said that some day I could, but that Jedi isn't finished yet.
"Oh!" I exclaimed. "Jedi is here too? Maybe I could talk with him!" I was very excited by this. I had been saddened to discover that Jedi left the forum this past summer while I was away, especially as I never got to say goodbye, so I was delighted to think I might get another chance to talk with him.
Kitty laughed that special laugh of hers, the one that always conjures up images of weeds and fruit**. She said Jedi doesn't have much to say these days, but that she'd see that the two of us got to spend some time together soon. In fact, she said, she was thinking that maybe when she goes away to TAM 2 would be a good time to do that, as she was worried about what might happen if she left me alone and unattended down here. (That's Kitty -- always thinking about others and planning ahead!)
Kitty said she had some special plans for many of you at TAM2, but that I shouldn't spoil the surprise by giving any hints. Whatever she has in mind, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!
So have a great time at TAM2, everyone! I look forward to meeting you another time.
