I just find it wrong to deny the fetus the right to live when we haven't even decided on what its rights are yet.

How would you even know that a fetus exists, in order to grant it "rights"?

Right now, under US law, only the born are granted any "rights." What laws would you enact in order to detect the presence of fetuses, and protect them?

So, are you proposing that the government establish a policy to determine the presence or absence of pregnancy in women, in order to facilitate the granting of rights to the fetuses being incubated by these women? If not, why not? If so, how do you think the government should operate in order to ensure the most accurate tracking of individual pregnancies?

I'm not saying there should be an absolute law about fetuses, and pregnancy tests obligatory for every female. That's ridiculous.

There should be a consensus about what a fetus is. I haven't seen one.

Please explain what "rights" you think a fetus should be granted.

Let us agree to use a common definition of fetus: " 1. In humans, the unborn young from the end of the eighth week after conception to the moment of birth, as distinguished from the earlier embryo."

Good point. I was only trying to point out that "something" doesn't necesserally need to petition to have rights.
