ABC Primetime - How Muslims Are Treated In USA

Small sample size - 6 vocally supported discrimination, 13 vocally opposed discrimination, 22 observed discrimination and remained silent. I'm encouraged by the number who voiced their opposition, saddened by the six bigots, and puzzled by the "silent majority." Food for thought...

In spirit of the Islamic holiday of Ramadan (which begins today), I thought I'd post a controversial video on the social struggles of modern day American Muslims in the land of the free.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqbQWxHIn4U

Is there a comparative video on the social struggles of modern day Muslim Muslims in the land of the Muslims?

How do they rate with respect to daily difficulties? Problems with authority? Cowed behavior so as to not upset authorities and call attention to themselves? Longevity? Actual physical health? Daily calorie intake? Productivity? Size of house? Amount of goodies in house?

Seems to me that another ABC show needs to be done about discrimination (if any) to Christians in Muslim countries. Maybe some interviews with the Taliban would be appropriate. Let's see how tolerant they are.

So the counter is, "We aren't as bad as the Taliban"?

Is this really the standard Americans hold to?

Let's say they did that show, and let's say (for the sake of argument) that it turned out that Christians endured even worse discrimination..

WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?!

Discrimination is wrong. It's unfortunate that people find reasons to divide rather than come together. Few things are more divisive than religion. I can't blame the Muslims for the awful way that they were treated, still, I agree with John Lennon's sentiment and look forward to the day when we don't have these artificial divisions.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

What does that have to do with discrimination in America? America is supposedly the land of the free. Muslim (actually, Arab) nations and other nations in the world, for that matter, are known for not being as diverse and open minded as we are. We shouldn't hold ourselves to a standard for less worse countries.

I don't think the usual American is able to differ between Persian, Arab,
African and Asian Muslims. In some way this is discrimination as well, is it not?

Folks use to pick on the Irish too, so I don't see this behavior as unusual. Yet, it's still immoral.

What is 'the American Dream'?
Apparently, be as Christian as possible, discriminate against all others, and then claim that it's utterly moral because, hey, the Taliban does worse.

After all, we aren't as bad as the worst, so therefore, anything less than what they do is completely moral and unquestionable.

'Take your jihad, take it back out the parking lot' lol

"They" did take it to the parking lot before they boarded the planes, which
isn't very funny nor does it have anything to do with "innocent Muslims",
a term you might not be familiar with. ;)

I'm as baffled as you.

Some people on this forum seem unable to seperate their (legitimate) criticisms of Islam from the outright discrimination present in this video. When you don't serve a Muslim in a resturant, your study of the Hadith shouldn't be your justification.

When the IRA were exploding bombs all over the place in the 1970s an Irish colleague of mine often used to put on an English accent when he was somewhere public like a railway station.

Leon

Yeah but, think wayyyyyyyyyyy older times. Try the 1840s and the Potato Famime in regards to the American discrimination of Irish folks.
