As many of you are aware, since the creation of AAL77.COM, I have been fighting hackers and all kinds of bizarre issues. I have restricted access to the site via ftp to around a dozen researchers until I could get some additional security arranged. I was able to get the site back open to the public over the weekend, but now my hosting service says I am in violation of their 'terms of agreement' due to the 40 gigabytes of files I have stored there.

So, they will be shutting down the site very soon. My contract with them expires at the end-of-the-month, but they may shut it down earlier. A number of people have been copying the files for their use and study, so nothing is going to be lost, but public access the entire collection will soon come to an end.

I am looking into a limited access server which I can run from home, but I'm not sure if that will work out. In other words, if there is anything you need from the site, get it now while the getting is good.

I can try to help with filehosting.

With following ideas:
1)I have public ip and relativly stable (nearly no outage longer than 15 minutes) connection. And I hosted files previously. HTTP and FTP
2)There is possiblity of P2P. i can help to seed/spread those files and those major P2P protocols/applications can ensure correctness of file based upon hash. For both options about 6 KB/s is available (too small, but once spread to various participants,it will be far quicker)
3)I can some of smallers one get hosted through out various web hostings.(Usually under 100MBs,depends upon type, file size and available space)
4)various file sharing services.(Only in Czech republic there are several and at least one of them allows files large 1GB! and creation of public list of them)
5)try Web archive if they are interested.

Thoughts?
And it is possible I forgot something.

If you want to take over hosting, then you are most welcome to. All I need to know is the nameserver (or ip) to point the domain to. Shoot me an email at [email protected] and we'll talk about it further.

Your diligence is well noted John, and it should not be lost. I hope people here with access to free or cheap servers will come forward to help. Of course, one would hope that if that happens, you would continue your work, and continue your contributions.

Unfortunately, I am not one of those people with access to such...I hope there are others who are.

Email sent and I hope to have partition setup in nearest future.(days!)

excellent Klimax!

911files:

You might want to approach MikeW as well. he runs 911myths, and I am sure if he has the capacity, he would be willing to help (though I would not want to speak for him).

However, if what Klimax can do fits the bill...wonderful.

TAM:)

It sounds like Klimax has things in hand. I'd be happy to help out if more disk space or bandwidth is required, though - I've plenty of both.

MikeW and I have already been communicating. He and a few others are already moving the site files to alternate locations as an insurance policy. We will explore some options. The problem now is that there are 40 gigs of files thus far to be maintained. That is a lot of stuff!

I assume you have all bmp files turned into jpegs, all avi's turned into mpgs or movs etc...

man that is a lot of stuff (although I have managed to collect about a similar amount in my 9/11 file on my comp.

Sorry to hear your host is giving you the boot.

The hosting company I use gives me unlimited bandwidth and HD space and I'd be happy to share. Check your e-mail.

And last thing,I will use this thread for any news or announcement about storage of files at my location.Like "Finally got together main fileserver with 4TB,moving files there." :D

Bandwidth is thing more valuable than gold, platinum or Gold-pressed latinium...

If you happen to have any gold or platinum that you wish to trade for bandwidth, please let me know your exchange rate :D

Bravo to all of you who are helping 911files. I wish there was something I could do to help since all I'm doing at the moment is getting very angry with Ultima1 and the other twoofers on the 911 conspiracy threads. (Maybe I should quit reading them.)

Thanks for all of the support. Currently Klimax is working on setting up a home for the files. We'll keep you posted.

Go with hosting torrents on your page. I can download a .tor file and start and stop it and then restart it without downloading the pertinent data again as I need to as long as the original file is intact.

One seed is all you need.

Cost to you = nothing. Sure, it's slower than a direct download. But you can keep it on your local Hard Drive and Torrent it to someone else if need be (if they stop seeding it).

Even if Klimax hosts all of the files consider adding Torrents to the mix.

What's your largest file size?

Yes I'm pretty new to posting here, but I've been lurking for over a year.

We tried that last year. Did not work out (torrents that is).
