Split Thread A second impeachment

After the election and before January 6 and even for a few days after January 6 McConnell was certainly positioning to rid himself of Trump and take return to a traditional Republican party. It is quite obvious that is what he wanted. He obviously failed. But I don't know why.
A change of heart following increased death threats against his wife for leaving Trump's cabinet?

We have reason to believe......

No proof....

Calvary vs cavalry....oh, come on! The woman just couldn't spell! It's a common mispronunciation and spelling. They way Schoen says she meant it doesn't even make sense in context. What an idiot.

OMIGOD!

His attorney, with a straight face just said the tweets misspelling “cavalry” as “calvary” was intentional and had religious meaning.

“The tweeter promised to bring the Calvary, a public display of Christ’s crucifixion, to the speech.”

Shameful and embarrassing.

I have to give Schoen points for the "fine people on both sides" argument. I said so at the time that comment was being misrepresented and I got lambasted on ISF.

Cancel the 75 million Americans who voted for him?

What the hell did Trump try to do to the 80 million Americans who voted for Biden?!

Not to mention that in 2016 Trump got like 2.5 million votes less than Clinton, and the GOP just shrugged that off with "well, popular vote doesn't really matter, it's the Electoral vote that counts"; now the popular vote is somehow important even when Trump's is seven million less than Biden's?

Oh, that last montage was just pitiful if they think that is in any way comparable to what Trump did. Talk about manipulated. The situation/context was different. How many of the people in those crowds were armed and/or wearing tactical gear?

It doesn't count how bad this was this time because he was bad so many times before. The fact the GOP Senate blocked every effort to impeach Trump means he was always innocent. That corruption is scary on it's own.

The one legit argument they are using is how many times fight rhetoric is used by everyone. This came up before when a complaint was made that the rhetoric about shooting Obama was dangerous.

The prosecution needed to make a better effort to point out the difference though they did present evidence how Trump's speech went well beyond rhetoric. And the pushing of the big lie is a critical element being left out. Sadly, Trump's big lies are going to be with us for many years to come. The GOP has learned long ago, all they have to do is outright lie. Now they know how to do it much better.

OMG -- talk about overplaying your hand...

That "FIGHT!" video is going to go down in history. At one point it turned nonsensical and I ended up doubled over laughing. It's been at least five minutes and it's still going!!!

I feel sorry for the interns that had to research those and put it together.

Saying something awful and then also saying something passably decent is quite different than only saying something decent.

It isn't a misrepresentation to point out the signal that sends.

His supporters read it as him saying the truth and then "saying the politically correct thing to appease the chattering classes."

It isnt context it is cover. What you see as exoneration I see as part of the very mechanism of the lie.

I'm not saying he isn't racist; he is. I said it was misrepresented and it was. But, I'm not going to argue it again here. Nuff said.

Now we are on to BLM false equivalence and the false equivalence objections to vote certification in the past. This is a way of getting the same past objections to vote certification multiple times.
