Counterintuitively, the total solar irradiance increases with sunspot number (statistically speaking)!Sorry I probably didn't say what I was trying to say very well. Obviously there are going to be small fluctuations in luminiousity, what I meant was there is no significant (As in triggering iceages or global warming) fluctuations reported since we started seriously studying the sun
There are large, (relatively) bright regions associated with sunspots, and these contribute more (+) to the total irradiance than the sunspots (-).
