A question for skeptical atheists.

If James Randi suddenly became a Christian, gave his life to Christ, became a reverend, started a Church, denounced atheism and begged all other skeptics to turn to Christ, what would you think? Would you open up your mind to the possibility that God showed James Randi the way and rethink your beliefs? Or would you just blindly accept that he was gullible?
Unlike theists, 1-in, most atheists I know don't tend to have cultish heroes. Randi is an interesting and respectable guy, but most people frequent this site because of what he does, not who he is.

If in some bizarro-world fashion the scenario you outline suddenly occurred, it wouldn't shake the foundations of my system at all. I was an atheist for decades before I ever even heard of Randi. My philosophy does not depend on him.

Similarily, there is no A-Holy Book that we depend on the absolute authority of, and therefore no A-Biblical inconsistency that can drive me into a frenzy of rhetorical dogmatic denounciation (despite the many assertions to the contrary I've often heard).

Again, I'm going to answer in a straightforward manner, because you're asking interesting questions. Keep it up.

It wouldn't matter much to me if Randi gave his life to Christ, no more than I care about his having Jewish ancestry.

I like him because he comes up with good stuff, and historically, Randi was important, because people like Uri Geller were hoodwinking scientists, and it took people like Randi to show the stupidity.

It's backward from what I think you think. I don't worship Randi or consider what he says to be information from on high. I like what he says because he says good things that make sense.

Should he succumb, perhaps, to Alzheimer's disease, and stop saying good things, then I'll stop paying attention. though I'll still respect him for his accomplishments. In the meantime, however, he performs a valuable service to humanity, and I appreciate it.
