A Nuke A Nuke, My Kingdom for A Nuke

Nuclear "energy" controlled by religious fanatics with an agenda of genocide of "non-believers" and a global Islamic caliphate seems like sound policy to me.

I hear you Marc but you have to differentiate between nuclear power, nuclear weapons, and dual purpose technologies.
Overall, nuclear power is a very good thing, but in terms of political stability, there are also advantages to Israel:
The pursuit of nuclear energy is a huge and vulnerable technology, Jordon would be less enthusiastic about rockets launched from their territory from rouges when Israel could reciprocate against this very vulnerable infrastructure.
Energy independence would form some political stability or at least go in that direction.
Jordan would have to make a huge investment in Science, either by educating their own people, or importing the know-how, which would be a cultural challenge to the religious nut jobs. I'm taking the liberty to presume that the scientists would most likely not be Islamic fundamentalists and I thing that is a fair presumption.

I hear ya. I'm pro-nuclear power. I'm pro Israel having nuclear weaponry and energy. I'm con nuclear energy and weaponry in the Middle East, excepting Israel.

No, probably from the United States, seeing they seem to have perfected advanced interogation techniques
Advanced? The brunt of these interrogation techniques are thousands of years old, although the drowning was much less 'simulated'.

There's a big difference between Jordan having nuclear technology and Iran having it. The fear with Jordan is, naturally, that if it falls to the Islamists, they'll take over the technology. So there is cause for concern. But THAT is a very different thing than the Islamists themselves ruling the place and developing the technology.

I won't be surprised if Israel is dealing with the Jordanians to convince them to get a reactor that cannot be used for nuclear weapons, to be on the safe side, as it were. I won't be surprised if there's some diplomatic pressure of negotiations to make sure the reactor is safe from possible malfunctions, and so on.

But that sort of pressure or negotiations is, again, quite different from thinking Jordan should not be allowed to have nuclear power at all.

We'll let readers be the judge of whether or not you can defend your arguments or not. But like I say, it's not looking too good for you at the moment.

You are clueless about torture in the Middle East, and, things aren't looking too good for me?

Well, you seem to be unable to prove your claims. But really, feel free to go to the right thread and prove me wrong instead of continuing to derail this one.

I'm not able to prove the Easter Bunny doesn't exist, either. However, the existence of the Easter Bunny is about as far-fetched as torture in the Middle East not existing.

No-one has suggested that the Easter Bunny exists. If they had, we would demand proof. You have stated that the Jordanians practice torture, presumably extensively, and that waterboarding isn't really torture. Yet you can't back these up, as far as we can see. But like I say, feel free to go to the right thread and correct this situation. It works better than stamping your foot.

He provided Joanne Mariner as a solitary source for his claim.
Make of it what you will.
As you say: "We'll let readers be the judge ..."

OK, enough with this, let's continue with the OP subject --

When I read the article I thought to myself: What role would the Palestinians (in Jordan) play in the development of this nuclear plant? And furthermore, would the Palestinians in the West Bank (the nascent Palestinian State) obtain any benefits from the generated power? Would they get connected to the electric grid?
And if not, would the Palestinians ask for their own nuke?

By the way, Israel's Dimona reactor is quite likely nearing the end of its useful life.
It is 45-years old.
