A New Secret Cabal needed for TAM7

We already know that many JREF'ers are doing their bit to help other Forumites who may not be quite able to make it to come to TAM7. I'm helping out on a couple of folks (who will, as always remain nameless unless they say something) and I know others who have contributed to the Scholarship fund.

Maybe you'd like to help, but don't quite know who or how or what to do. Well....

Last year I formed a "Secret" Cabal that brought Dr Adequate to TAM...and all he did was fall in love and get suspended from the Forum--a notable week for him! So that went so well, I went looking for someone else to support. A couple of folks who we would love to have there are not sure yet (and may yet get supported|), but one who I really did not know well was recommended and seconded and just stood out as someone who would love to be there but could probably never experience on their own.

So of course I can't tell you who it is--wouldn't be a secret then, would it? But I am asking those who would like to do good for a good person as part of a new and improved Secret Cabal to drop me a PM or put a note in this thread and we'll see what we can do.

I'll be in on any Secret Cabal, but given that I'm a scholarship recipient myself, I will be unable to contribute financially.
 
Arth -- Do you already have a roomie? Maybe you can offer the Unnamed One a place to crash. Or put a box of TimTams up for auction--those seem to be a hot item from the hysteria their vary name engendered on another thread.

UnrepentantSinner has very kindly offered to share his room with me so I'm not actually getting my own room.

And unfortunately, Tim Tams don't travel well. Minties do though.

What would shipping a box or so of TimTams to the US cost from AU, arthwollipot?

I suspect that some of us -- especially those who are used to paying shipping charges for our daily necessities -- would be willing to pay shipping in addition to an auction cost if the JREF benefits.

Well, my suggestion was originally for fund-raising, but I see I can buy 'em for myself (but not at a store near me), and -- as usual -- shipping costs more than the item itself. :(
 
I went to three different Targets today after reading that, searching for these elusive Tim Tams. No luck. :(

I suppose we could take comfort from the fact that if we did, they probably wouldn't have them.

I asked hcmom to buy some for me if Targets in her area have them, and I was going to suggest that she save shipping costs and I'd pick them up when I'm next on the mainland. Then I remembered that there won't likely be any such thing as "saving."

Well, you would be saving the shipping fees and she would be saving you the trouble of eating them.
 
Look, the place in that linky was in Texas. I don't know squat about TX geography, but I know that MdC is driving up...Maybe a sealed, insulated container would make it to Las Vegas okay??

Hmmm...have to check with Targets around here...
