I have a good idea just what Christian responses will be but I'm kinda curious to see if someone tries something new here. So, what if...

Today's date is September 18, 2001. The events of 9/11 happened just a week ago. 3,500 were killed in a vicious attack on the American way of life, including 19 hijackers who all died with their victims. The nation is still reeling in shock, looking for answers to who is responsible for this heinous crime.

In this turning point in history, it is revealed the guilty party is not Muslims in the middle-east but Christians in the heartlands of America looking to impose their Dominionism upon all who don't believe as they do...

What if the events had turned out like that?

No offense, but I feel this is a fools errand. No matter what you do, those inclined to invent conspiracy theories will invent them regardless of who the protaganists may be, and regardless of the likely conspirators.

The South would win this time.

What an utterly ridiculous what-if question. Your motivation is so completely transparent and ill-conceived that it can't even fool a Christian. It is clearly your forlorn hope that Christians will reveal a double standard. You hope they will reveal that they wouldn't be nearly so bothered at having their country brutally attacked by Christians as as they were bothered at being attacked by Muslims.

Even the dumbest Christian can see right through this. They won't fall for it.

Damn...

We already have a real-life example of this to draw upon. Before 9/11, the largest terrorist attack on American soil was perpetrated by Christians. In this case, the fact that they were Christians was not considered to be important, as being Christian in America is ubiquitous. These terrorists were simply considered to be anomalies.

That is what I was thinking, too.

I would also like to point out that while the specific actors in that attack were prosecuted and punished, we did not even (to my recollection) prosecute the militia group which gave them aid and comfort as a marked contrast to the campaign against Al-Qaeda following 9/11*.

I don't know if this because of the domestic/foreign aspect or the Christian/Muslin one, but clearly we did not, as a government, treat the attacks the same.

*In case the phrase 'aid and comfort' was not a tip-off, I think both should have been treated as aggressively as we did treat Al-Qaeda, and the militia groups which supported McVeigh and Nichols should have been charged with treason.

Not to mention OP does not even need to invent "what-ifs". Something like that already happened April 19, 1995.

Exactly.

"No True Christian" would briefly get its own show on Fox, and that'd pretty much be the end of it.

Actually I wasn't even considering that they might ever apply a double standard to the hypothetical. I expect a lot of True Scotsman fallacies, which is what I typically get when I use the hypothetical in real life. Which I then point out the same thing is said by real life Muslims.

I wasn't even aware of the other terrorist attacks though, thanks. It hep illuminates the real double standards of the Christian mindset.

Root them out and destroy them.

Do they have wide-ranging terrorist cells? Find those terrorists, by whatever suspension of habeus you need, and jail or kill them.

Are any city or state governments complicit? Then those governments better capitulate or cooperate, or be toppled by overwhelming force.

Find the people and organizations that have declared war on the U.S., threatened our security, and killed our people. Eviscerate their ability to ever do it again.

Domestic terrorism should be dealt with just as swiftly and brutally as foreign terrorism, if not moreso.

If only, than the KKK wouldn't exist.

I'm going to assume from this statement, as well as your admitted ignorance of modern domestic terrorism upthread, that you're unaware of what actions have been taken against the KKK in the United States. Am I correct?

Not as such, no. If you can post a link to it, I'd appreciate it though. Would be helpful to know for future reference.

And I'm not completely ignorant of domestic terrorism, for your information. I'm aware of some domestic terrorists, not all.

There's quite a bit. My favorite are the lawsuits, such as those mentioned here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Poverty_Law_Center

... bottom line is, we do not leave domestic terrorists alone. If a hate group gets violent, chances are it will get law enforcement after it (often on the federal level), and then eventually get dismantled by lawsuits.

It would probably be from the cult of the Westboro Baptist Church, in which case we would all have a reason to take down their cultist fanatic leader. Also all sorts of other things I'm sure would follow.

If you don't know what I'm talking about watch the Most Hated Family in America special from BBC on youtube.

Nope. Plenty of wacko cults in the U.S., but the Phelps family is not the sort to do something like this. It doesn't fit their goals or their M.O.

They use the law, they don't break it. They're not anarchists or terrorists.

I question that we have dealt with domestic terrorists at all. Sorry, but if the best we can do it execute Tim McVeigh, all while minimizing the activities of Michael Fortier, or even Terry Nichols, I question whether we've done a damned thing.

Send lawyers, guns, and money . . .
