A Dozen Questions For I.D. Creationists

A: That is like asking what CEO allowed the current CEO to exist. All that is relavent is that the CEO is top banana, and came from no other CEO.
Who are the shareholders and the board of directors? :D

15. Why do humans, gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans all have the gene for creating vitamin C turned off? The gene is still there, it just isn't activated.
Same question, but for felines and the amino acid taurine.

(Though the primate question makes a better point from the point of view of debating creationists.)

My post number 20 makes it appear the author quoted all said in blue, when in actuality my responses follow the poster's queries, with "A:"

I realize now after seeing how it came out, up on the screen, was not the right way to go about the reply. Sorry.

12 Questions For I.D. Creationists – ideas, inspiration and some verbiage from “Why Darwin Matters” by Michael Shermer.

"inspiration" ?

6. Why does the human genome contain junk DNA, repeated copies of useless DNA, orphan genes, gene fragments, tandem repeats and pseudogenes?

Prove it is "useless" as claimed.

9. How, precisely, is “intelligent design” accomplished. As an example, how did the designer design vertebrates?

Right after a completely detailed Darwinian pathway is produced going from everything that makes up a single celled organism to, say, everything that makes up an elephant.

12. Who designed the intelligent designer? (no theology allowed; remember, intelligent design is science)

How did life evolve from non-life?

I think there are better questions to ask the ID crowd. Those 12 questions seem too many and too complicated and even science doesn't know many of those answers. They don't focus very well on the core of the ID concept.

Some questions I'd rather see addressed are:

1 ... What motivates your belief in ID?

2 ... What verifiable scientific evidence supports ID better than other theories?

3 ... IF you are wrong about ID, what kind of scientific evidence would you accept as proof of this?

As for question #1, in court, under oath, experts on ID and religion put on public record that ID is NOT based on religion to counter the plaintiffs' argument against it being taught in public science classes. The plaintiffs charged that ID was merely a thinly veiled disguise for creationism under a new name. Would the religious experts lie under oath after swearing on a Bible to tell the truth about ID? Thou shalt not lie or bear false witness.

Question #2 is simple enough to address. If such verifiable evidence exists, then it can be presented and pass scientific muster.

Question #3 can be a real sticky one and is the most important of them all.

Attacking science by emphasising scientific doubts or uncertainties does not in any way amplify the case for ID. That is just a tactic used to spread confusion among the ignorant where there are no facts to present instead - a smoke screen they hide within when they run out of ammunition to defend their ground.

Dr Luthon64, currently at State College, Pennsylvania, briefly mentioned a one-sided rant titled "The Case for Creationism" aired on Channel 10 TV about 12 hours ago, and called it "SCARY" (all capitals). Has anyone here seen this broadcast? Who did the ranting?

I googled various combinations of words and phrases, but without success. :(
