A book of woo

That guy's expression may be the single most repulsive I have ever seen. Self-aggrandizement, smugness, condescension... it's all there.

Plus he's balding. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeww.

Well:

UTC chronicles how Thomas Alan Berg created a new, totally "out of the box" approach to education, based on synthesizing the educational ideals of the American Constitution, the latest discoveries of Quantum Physics, the esoteric theories of metaphysics, the thrilling epiphanies of spiritual revelation, the highest values of ethics, the healing breakthroughs of transpersonal depth psychology and the mounting evidence of multidimensionality and "sytems theory", into what he calls, the Cosmic Curriculum of the Super Self.

I didn't know the constitution had educational ideals.:jaw-dropp

I'm intrigued by the notion that the public school system is churning out students with "lemming-like submission and non-questioning conformity and compliance."

Seriously, has this guy ever met an American teen-ager?

I should have spotted that.

"... everybody's so different, they're all the same..."

Which means, in essence, that he cobbled together a bunch of feel-good pseudo-babble unproven nonsense.

It's easy when you can just make it up.

Sometimes there just aren't words to describe . . . OK, I'll think of something to say.

It is of no suprise that this guy is from San Fransisco, and that is where he is trying his hand at his idea of "education".

And, I'm willing to be there are hundreds like him in the SF Bay area alone, spouting almost the same type babble, some published, some not.

It's scarey out there.

I fear the only bit that is totally original was his making up of the word 'youthiversity'. Ugh......

It always bothers me when people use the phrase "lemming-like" or some variation to describe this type of behavior. The concept of lemmings blindly following each other a cliff in mass suicide is a myth.

Hey,there are lots of level headed programmers and artist and the like working here to bring you the latest in electronics. Remember, Silicon Valley counts as part of the Bay Area. We don't mess around with our childrens' education here in the Silicon Valley!

Now up there in the city, that's a different world entirely.

Hey now... I just moved off the Bay Area Peninsula after 45 years and I'm really tired of these generalsations about the sort of... oh hell, yeah... yeah, it's true. :boggled:

Gay gurus

I was a bit sad to see how my friend Tom Berg's book was panned here in this forum. However, it's a discussion forum and the proper place to express opinions.

I saw that a link to a film that I made together with Tom was listed. I want to clearly state that I had no part in the book Uncle Tom's Classroom. The views and ideas expressed in it are solely Tom's, whatever you may think of them.
