Heh. Of course, using numbers in the way that tinhatters, "numerologists" and other woo-merchants do, numbers can be manipulated so easily and so hilariously as to make them, and their purported "meaning" utterly meaningless. It is just too silly for words, frankly.

(If anyone requires further proof of this, see the "ET Corn Gods" thread... but only if you don't mind wasting several hours of your life only to find out that there are some people is at least one guy even nuttier than the diehard 9/11 conspiracy fantasists.)

Well, I did a little bit of computation on this and got the following:

September 11 is the 254th day of the year. 2+5+4 = 11! OMG! What are the odds?

2001-254=1747. 1+7+4+7=19. The number of hijackers! WOW!

2001+254=2255. 22+55=77. TWO SEVENS! AMAZING! (I don't know how to tie that in to the events of September 11, but it must be important somehow!)

Just to assure fellow JREFers, I have not fallen into a big vat of woo. I'm having a little bit of fun at the numerologists' expense. :D

The airplane that hit the Pentagon was Flight 77.

It looks like Bush and Cheney must have really sat down and crunched the numerology to figure out exactly where and when to attack. You'd think they'd base the details of their evil scheme on factors like how to best cover it up, how to best avoid failure or how to best get the public riled up, but I guess making sure there are lots of multiples of 11 was the biggest concern.
 
The first time I read about this (shortly after the events), it came as an email joke. Totally funny. I remember this line:

While I agree, 17+5 = 22 a muliple of 11, and it was the second flight (2 11's)

And Shanksville has 11 letters too. (Washington DC has 12 though)

I like how they add the numbers together to get 11, that makes it even easier to find patterns because now you're dealing with such a commonly occurring number.
