911 commission report destroys mmoore's F/911

"The report also debunks what commissioners called “myths” that have built up around the terrorist strikes that killed nearly 3,000 people. Those include these findings:

The Saudi government did not fund the 19 hijackers.

Relatives of bin Laden were not allowed to fly out of the country until after air traffic was allowed to move freely after it was grounded following the attacks. Moreover, those family members had no connection to the terrorist plot.

Bush did not know about the specific threat beforehand. "

I think you must have linked to the wrong article by mistake. I can't see any of those quotes in there.

Moore never said they did

Ive seen the movie 3 times....I downloaded it.

moore skillfully chose his words so that findings like these wouldnt make him into a complete jackass, but none the less these findings show that his theory and film are baseless and he is still a whopping mound of a jackass.

And King Henry did not murder Thomas Becket.

Questions
  • What purpose did the mentioning of the Bin Laden family serve?
  • What purpose did the mentioning of the Saudi connections serve?
  • What is Moore's thesis?

that doesnt mean those points were not found by the commission in their report.

... So why did you put all that stuff in quotation marks and then add a link to an irrelevant article at the end?

i think he was trying to tell us that the 9/11 commission's report refutes morons (like those that believe Bush). He just spelled it wrong. ;)

Oh God!!! why are you asking?

If you haven't figured it out by yourself then watching the film was a waste of time.

I thought I did but apparently, according to wjousts, I was wrong. Do you know?

I find the way Moore used "facts" to convey his message to be strikingly similar to the way Bush used "facts" to convey his justification for invading Iraq.

Nice to see that the *new* JREF forum is so much more civil and honest than the old one.

Damn, every time I bring up Clinton I get my knuckles rapped because that is not the subject of the thread. Is Bush an exception? Can you answer the questions?

I'm just trying to determine if people are using consistent levels of critical thinking. If not it's just another useless venting of personal bias.

Edit to add sarcastic wisea$$ comment. How silly of me bringing up Bush in a tread about F/911. Of course there is no correlation between the two.

That is the answer I always give David. Let's see if the usual suspects will fault you or if they are inconsistent. I hope you will come to my defense in the future when I get jumped for bringing up Clinton.

Come on, I was with you until now. The thread is about Moore not Bush. I personally accept your first response. This one is not going to fly. What Bush did or did not do has no bearing on whether or not the Commision debunked Moore's film.

"What purpose did the mentioning of the Bin Laden family serve?

What purpose did the mentioning of the Saudi connections serve?"

imo, the point of those was that rich buddies of the Bush family got special treatment, not that the Bin Laden family or the Saudi royals actually were behind 911.

"What is Moore's thesis?"
basically, that in their quest to acquire more wealth, the extremely rich and powerful people of the world cause harm to the general population of the USA (and everyone else). In F911, he's saying that Bush is helping them and to some extent is one of them.

Personally, I think you could make a film with the same basic message about just about any period in history. The circumstances would be different, but the ideas would be the same.

I'll stick this in my tickler file, I usually don't add to threads with "yeah me to" comments, but if I see this, I will, assuming I agree, back you.

Sorry, you are correct, but I consider NTW threads as open season on reality and normal rules of engagement don't apply :)

So you concede that Moore said none of the things that the 9/11 report disproves? So what is the point of your thread's title:

Nie Trink Wasser said:

Since this thread apparently has nothing to do with Michael Moore?

Isn't this contradicted by the Commision?

basically, that in their quest to acquire more wealth, the extremely rich and powerful people of the world cause harm to the general population of the USA (and everyone else). In F911, he's saying that Bush is helping them and to some extent is one of them.
I don't think that quite nails it but it is as valid a response as any. I appreciate that you answered my questions.
