7.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits China

Almost 8,000 reported dead in and around the city of Chengdu in the Sichuan Province. It is reported as the deadliest earthquake in at least the last three decades.

Interestingly, text messaging is playing a large role in news updates, and also being used between family members, due to the flooded phone lines, many of which were damaged during the earthquake.
