52 more Iraqis "Liberated" this weekend

This is simply not true. For basically the first year of the war there was an opportunity to establish security and build the infrastructure.

It was our total failure to secure that nation, while completely eliminating their ability to help themselves, that led them to turn away from us.

Read about Blackwater's efforts in Fallujah, for example. The violence was not inevitable, our horrible decisions and policies created the chaos.

So you are claiming that this never happened? After all, if there were no foreign fighters in Iraq until 2005, how could have it?

70 Muslims have been brutally murdered in Pakistan:

Somehow, someway, I'm sure either Bush or Israel is to blame.

Naturally none of the "human rights" folks here give a damn. Muslim lives only count when their loss can somehow be blamed on real human beings -- you know, Americans or other westerners (or Israelies, which are honorary westerners for this purpose).

Well, thank heavens for small favors, I guess. As an Israeli, I play the part of the villain in these folks' morality play -- but at least I get a name and a recognizable part, as opposed to Muslims, who are like the brown or black extras in a 1950s monster movie.

I said Saddam was harmless TO HIS NEIGHBORS. Which he was. Hell, he couldn't even really exert authority over the Kurds.

With every post the vapidity and baselessness of the pro-war argument becomes more and more apparent.

It's not so much pro war as anti woo woo.

Take the above quote, for example:

1: There was no reason to think Iraq (Saddam did nothing single handedly) would change its spots once out from those onerous no fly zones and poorly enforced UN member violated sanctions.

2: As to Kurds. He/they couldn't control them, which is why he/they killed many many of them and encouraged Sunnis to move into their territories, and homes.

3: There's more....

He funded Hamas.

Alright, this is just getting sad.

There's a reason why this level of argument was absent in the run up to war. It's only now that everything else has failed that you're forced to resort to these weak claims.

150,000 Iraqis killed directly by violence, hundreds of thousands more as a result of the violence, 1/6th of the nation displaced, some millions of them living in refugee camps, more than a trillion dollars spent, distraction from Afghanistan causing us to spend hundreds of billions more there...and on and on.

Perspective.

Terrorists did it.

Saddam started it.

Is it the shame-born denial of being bilked by such transparent lies in 2003 or genuine fundamentalism that keeps you churning out these ridiculous rationalizations for the most disasterous foreign policy decision since Vietnam?

Syria and Iran.

The Syrians and the Iranians were not responsible for the security and borders of Iraq, after the 2003 invasion. The "Coalition of the Willing" was.

The failed Bush policy & strategy allowed these terrorists to come in and wreak havoc..for almost 8 years now.

Would you then advocate for a stronger U.S. presence in Iraq, with more draconian measures in place to ensure the safety and well being of the citizens?

Or maybe Parky would put forth his own ideas?

I think its too late. The damage has been done.

The only way to fully wipe away the terrorists would be a massive increase in personnel, say 500,000. And that just won't fly.

The war is over. I just pray Iraq does not fall into civil war any time soon.
