Winning the lottery is easy. I have to keep jumping about to avoid meteorites.

I wanted to say he was killed in an unforeseen incident, but in fact, he's still performing.

Funny. Coincidentally I just saw his name in my local paper a couple days ago, offering to help the local struggling baseball team overcome their negativity with his "powers of mental persuasion."

I used to like his TV show. I think it's partly responsible for my whole interest in the paranormal and skepticism. I may be mistaken, but I get the sense he's not a full-blown woo but credits things like "intuition" and "observation" for his mind-reading act, and has released some DVDs with the secrets to some of his tricks.

Maybe we will see Geller cash out with a "how to bend spoons" DVD when the money train starts to dry up?

I don't get it. I just read this whole thread and I can't figure out which lottery numbers to play.

Seriously, I think becomingagodo is pulling people's legs here. Not even the whack-jobs I used to work with believed this and they believed some seriously bizarre stuff...

Yes, he was. See post #47.

I calculated the odds of it being 5 is 2%. Then the number five came up, seriously wtf.

The odds might not have anything to do with how you mentally somehow connected with the number 5. And the connection does not have to be on a conscious level. I have a set of cards I play with, and the odds for any card to be drawn are 44 to 1. Yet there are few upon which I focus, they come up no matter what and regardless of how much shuffling I do. Of course if I am mentally or emotionally agitated they don't come up.

Newlyfound, I don't think you're playing with a full deck of cards!

Sorry--I had to be the first to say it.

Edit: seriously, though, your claim is easily testable. If it's true, you can be $1 Million richer. I know the new rules require a media presence first, so all you need to do is test it first for yourself (in a controlled, quantified way). If you really can do significantly better than chance, demonstrate it to friends and family. If it still is so, then call the local news. If you really can do it, you'll have a media presence in no time.

I suspect you can't. You've just deceived yourself by not really counting accurately. Or anytime you get chance numbers, it's because you're emotionally agitated (you've got a built-in escape from counting those which is a confirmation bias).

Can you be more specific?

My intent is for our friend to be aware than there is more to the events that enrich our lives than just the odds. Odds are not the only factor that empower them. I am sure you've witnessed or at least head of one or 2 people in your life beating the odds.

Again, can you be more specific?
