Merged $25,000 Spent on programes that made things worse./Woke kindergarten

That has never been true and you know it. Or you should.

I think it's hyperbole. But Gulliver's Foil seems to think that in spite of spending more per student than any country other than Luxembourg, the problem with the American public school system is that it's underfunded. That's not the problem, and spending more isn't the solution.

I think we can look at places like New Orleans for some insight into possible solutions.

If by "real progressives" you mean "utter ******* idiots", then I agree completely.
Yes. Jesus Christ. This is what I'm telling you. American progressivism has devolved into utter ******* idiocy. That's what we're talking about, when we talk about "woke" in America. We're talking about exactly this idiocy.

I don't think you quite grasp how things are, half a world away from you.

Except these ******* idiots aren't progressives like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, or AOC. They're just ******* idiots.

IDK, Bernie has being giving lip service to it and I'm pretty sure AOC is on board with it. Warren is much more old school still. I'd bet though, that if polled americans who described themselves as progressive, they are mostly on board with the stuff that Woke Kindergarten is pedaling. Certainly the policy abolition is very popular with self described progressives and nobody else.

I was having trouble understanding, but I think "policy abolition" should be "police abolition".

For what it's worth I think that the issues that "woke" progressives are concerned about are often real issues, it's the solutions I strongly disagree with and often think they'll make the problems worse. WRT this thread, there are problems with the American education system. It does need reform. But the reforms it needs are in many ways that opposite of what the Woke Kindergarten folks are proposing. WRT police, I also think that police forces are corrupt and abuse their power, and again this is a problem that needs addressing. I just disagree with the idea that this suggests that police should be abolished. Instead one of that major problems is the power of police unions that has allowed them to entrench their corruption; both on the scale of individual bad/abusive/corrupt cops who are protected by the police unions and on the larger scale, for instance of stuff like this:
https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2018/01/police-union-privileges.html

Earlier I wrote about how police unions around the country give to every officer dozens of “get out of jail” cards to give to friends, family, politicians, lawyers, judges and other connected people. The cards let police on the street know that the subject is to be given “professional courtesy” and they can be used to get out of speeding tickets and other infractions. Today, drawing on the Police Union Contracting Project, I discuss how union contracts and Law Officer “Bill of Rights” give police legal privileges that regular people don’t get.

In 50 cities and 13 states, for example, union contracts “restrict interrogations by limiting how long an officer can be interrogated, who can interrogate them, the types of questions that can be asked, and when an interrogation can take place.” In Virginia police officers have a right to at least a five-day delay before being interrogated. In Louisiana police officers have up to 30 days during which no questioning is allowed and they cannot be questioned for sustained periods of time or without breaks. In some cities, police officers can only be interrogated during work hours. Regular people do not get these privileges.

(there's a lot more at the link)

And here's some more recent comments on the "get out of jail cards": https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2024/01/get-out-of-jail-cards-2.html

It's fascinating how the rightists go on and on about this money, and completely ignore the tens of millions that their school districts waste on (for example) defending lawsuits about their forcing religion on students. Or dress codes. Or 'correct' hair lengths.

That's because this is a thread about this money being spent on this program and introducing those topics would be deemed off topic and get us all sent to hell. Please feel free to start a thread on something like school dress codes and don't forget to include those freakshow countries that crush their student's freedom of expression and authoritatively demand conformity by making them wear school uniforms.

Examples please?

THey're not progressives like the very elite subset of people that you allow that label to... but they are absolutely 100% what US progressives are in the real world.

US Progressives are not really progressive at all, they're barely even liberals. Meanwhile, they've decided that the best way to win hearts and minds is to constantly deride classical liberals and moderate conservatives as being fascist bigots and nazis. That's pretty much the entire basis of their approach to life at this point.

US Progressives ARE absolute ******* idiots.

Assuming facts not in evidence...

You seem to be claiming to have information about this program and it's goals/ends that are not presented? Would you mind sharing?

From the linked article in the OP:-

District officials defended the program this past week, saying that Woke Kindergarten did what it was hired to do. The district pointed to improvements in attendance and suspension rates

Several examples have been discussed on this forum in the past.
Ok, if you say so. Are they the same rightests? Also, dress codes are totally ok and common, also, give me an example of a hair lenght restriction in the last, 20, 50 years?

I won't defend religious education any more than this, mostly because this is religious education.

Well, here's the latest discussion about restrictions on hair styles that happened here on this forum:

School Boards and their constant baffingly wars against student hair styles

Ok, now, find the venn diagram of folks.....

Sorry, pet peeve that I'm also guilty of, assuming that everyone disagrees with me, agrees. For the most part, they don't.

Also, concerns about hair style vs clear ideological indoctrination, this woke kindergarten is much more akin to intelligent design than hair styles or dress codes.

Yeah! Like building a wall!

It would have been infinitely cheaper to build a wall compared to the amount spent, and continued to be spent, on paying for illegal migration. And it's silly to think that walls don't work. Ask Israel.
