I think it's more than gas prices. All of those things you mentioned played a large part.

True but the gas prices were a direct result of his bizarre move in Iran, that was a double betrayal to his base, probably half his base were in the 'no new wars' camp. A lot of Maggats who told me to shut up 2 yrs ago and 'enjoy lower gas prices' were left eating lots of crow, and they were not happy doing that.

There are still a lot of mail-in votes to be counted, which from what I remember tend to run Blue (hence the complaint by The POSOTUS last time that "those late votes shouldn't count".) Not that it would change much, but I'm glad to have the obvious win up front rather than dangled about and litigated for days or weeks.

Peltola up 54% with 22% in. I suspect most of the ballots will have to be returned to election HQ by bush pilot. That's what I imagine Alaska is like.

Reverse image search says the tattoo is a Totenkopf, used by the SS and now a symbol used by neo-Nazis and white supremacists to celebrate the Holocaust.
So it was a pizza cutter post, all edge and no point.

I think it was a reference to former Democratic candidate Graham Platner, who was doing very well, before he had a series of scandals (including one where it was revealed he had a Totenkopf tatoo) and dropped out of the race.

To be honest, while I recognize that virtually all of the republican attacks on Democrats have been extremely lame, I actually found this slightly amusing. At least it has some thought behind it (misguided as it was), rather than just an empty-headed "der... Dems commies".

I do have to wonder what is going through the mind of Moscow Mitch and all the other Trump enablers in congress.

After years of publicly supporting Trump (while complaining about him behind closed doors), they end up with one of the most humiliating defeats in recent history. They treat trump like a useful idiot (thinking they will get something from having him in power), fearing repercussions from the MAGAchud if they don't properly grovel, and in the end they lose anyways.

With this type of repudiation, I wonder what becomes of Trump toadies like Patel, Duffy, Bessent, Lutnick, etc etc. Are they still full steam ahead with the maga agenda or do they start fading away now that the tide has turned. I would've said that if it boiled down to a one-seat Senate margin (probably Alaska). But those court cases are going to be shot down quickly, like the last time. I'm not seeing a refusal to seat, but we'll see I guess.

They're already calling for another January 6th. Specifically, one of the original January 6th insurrectionists who was pardoned by Trump is calling for another January 6th.
