If you wish to start a new thread to discuss the morality of Doctors and infants that survive attempted abortions, please feel free to do so. My intent was to clarify a comment made by President Trump during his 2024 election campaign and I have done so. Any more than that would be off topic.
So no, you aren't going to back it up. Alright. So you've chosen the route of no more discussion of the specific merits.
With that said, then, this sure sounds reminiscent of similar BS "clarifications" that have been put forth in the past. Like when Trump proposed solving Covid with internally applied UV and a certain faction scrounged around to find something, then found it in an obscure and unworkable proposed thing and then tried to crow about how great Trump was and thus tried to gaslight us all so Trump wouldn't be treated as the fool that he showed himself as.
Your attempted "clarification" reeks of much the same desperation to find something, anything to grasp onto, no matter how unreasonable the multiple leaps in play are.
Democrats voting overwhelmingly against it is nothing to be taken aback by, under the actual circumstances in play. When it's driven by political fiction and would fairly certainly just end up making things worse all around without granting any real benefit to
anyone at all, that's not something that is actually good to support morally, contrary to your assertion. Politically is more unclear. Republicans have been thoroughly trashing any brand image they might have on the subject with their extreme overreach and the serious harm that it is causing to the citizens of the US. Those who are willfully blind and already motivated may be inclined to seize upon it, but those not are much more likely to be leery of what the Republicans were trying to pull. These are largely the same Republicans as voted overwhelmingly against helping American citizens
feed their babies, after all.
It's not like the Republican party has a good record when it comes to caring about people of any age at all. At last check, Republican policy is associated with greater death counts at every age, including for the unborn, and it's the Republican party that's worked to make kids hungrier and unhealthier. The whole "Please think of the babies" shtick is a bit sickening as the Republican Party just keeps acting to harm them.
