Merged 2024 Election Thread

What actually bothers me most about this is the fact trump uses this nonsense to avoid discussing actual issues in an intelligent grown-up way, and avoids discussing the specific policies he plans should he be elected.

Okay the border. So what is trump's plan? Build a wall, that's it?

Right after he reveals his "health plan, better than Obamacare" which he said he was going to do when he was running in 2016.

IMO the GOP will insist that any Democratic Party candidate isn't legitimate and will challenge the result in the courts if the Democratic candidate wins.

I'm waiting to see a citation to an actual law the Dems would have broke by nominating Kamala for president.

Apparently Harris Can't be president because she can't understand family policies and issues because she doesn't have children.

This might actually be a good line of attack.
Of course, she is on good terms with the two children her husband brought with him from his first marriage.

This is a very modern family situation that could pay well if played well.

You completely miss the point that I criticize making her into an 'identity' which I don't think is a real merit.
But that is her identity - at least part of it. Her father is a black man of African ancestry, born in Jamaica, and subsequently became an American citizen. His daughter, Kampala Harris, was born in the U.S., making her an American of African ancestry, i.e. an African American.

It is a fake talent with fake facts..
Who has characterized being African American as a talent? Why should people not be pleased about the United States finally getting to the point where people other than white men can actually run for president?

And no matter how much you claim otherwise, they aren't fake facts. Her father is a man of African ancestry, making her an African American.

Go complain to the identity politics/skin color people.
I'm pretty sure I was.

MSNBC tweeted

President Biden will deliver an address to the nation from the White House on Wednesday on his decision to not seek a second term.

The Harris campaign has requested vetting materials from the following potential vice presidential nominee picks:

NC Gov. Roy Cooper
PA Gov. Josh Shapiro
AZ Sen. Mark Kelly
MI Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
MN Gov. Tim Walz

His plan is to be a troll to distract us while he steals power.

The plan of every single one of supporters is to be a troll to distract us while he steals power.

That's why it's impossible to have a discussion, even a bad one, with them.

No. "African American" in this context refers to black Americans who inherited the generational effects of slavery, segregation, and racial discrimination. People whose grandparents grew up during Jim Crow. Whose parents were locked out of the growing middle class by redlining and other discriminatory practices. Who are now facing a cycle of poverty due to this cumulative effect over generations. This is a uniquely American experience for black people, and one that Harris absolutely does not share. In terms of grinding poverty and class discrimination, Bill Clinton has a more authentic "African American" background than Kamala Harris does. Hell, more authentic than Barack Obama, even.

********. What a pathetic excuse, even from a habitual contrarian such as yourself. You're telling us that a black person in his twenties whose grandparents moved to the U.S. during the mid '70s isn't an African American? You're going to tell us that he doesn't experience the effects of slavery, segregation, and racial discrimination? Are the effects of those things only experienced through genetic inheritance? Do racists distinguish between people whose ancestors were enslaved in the U.S. and those whose ancestors were enslaved in Jamaica, or whose ancestors came to the U.S. after segregation was struck down?

And your Bill Clinton hyperbole is literally one of the stupidest arguments I've seen on this forum. Who else is more African American than Kamala Harris? You, maybe?

Now that she's been out on her own for a few days and had been a numerical lock for about a day, I've seen her talking a few times about being a prosecutor and her opponent being a criminal.

That's not a bad start, but she needs to go beyond just "Trump bad". She also needs to talk about popular policy proposals that differentiate her from Biden and avoid tossing word salads when talking about things that don't have simple easy concrete descriptions.

Something she does not need to do is completely avoid the corny silly obscure jokes. People point out how bad bad jokes are, but they actually like people who are willing to crack them. Notice, for example, which side all of the coconut references are coming from.
