Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

Mine is in the church hall about 5 minutes walk away.
Local playhouse a similar distance away. And the other ward is about 10 minutes walk away in the Methodist church. Other wards have the infants school in the next village about 20 mins walk away, or the scout hut in another hamlet about 20 mins in a different direction.

But that does no prove the fixing of voting machines on a mass basis

Of course. To be clear, from the start here, Tero's post did not prove that criminal action occurred. It did, however, offer reasonable cause to be suspicious and a direction for investigation that we can reasonably presume to be unlikely to have been pursued, especially with MAGA's interference. It is improper to either conclude or dismiss the truth of such suspicions without more direct evidence.

And of course you sound just like a Trump supporter, since they want on site one day voting.

This is a strange and deeply problematic interpretation.

It's worth pointing out that the push for verifiability, appropriate transparency, and so on when it comes to election integrity very much predates Trump supporters pretending to care. Much of what pro-Trump propagandists have done on the subject is to invoke the valid concerns that had been previously raised in a half-assed manner and pervert them to attack and undermine election integrity. Hence, of course there are superficial similarities! Those similarities in no way mean that people who desire actually fair and forthright elections are the same as those seeking to sabotage elections.

This is such a basic thing, though, that it makes it rather difficult to believe that you wouldn't be well aware of that and are thus not saying this in good faith.

I don't think I've ever been more than about ten minutes walk from my polling station, my current one is pretty big, it serves about 6000 people, we have a big retired population here so turnout is high but spread across the day, five minute wait possibly? The next village along, one mile away, has it's own station for 104 voters. The smallest I can see in my parliamentary constituency seems to be around 85 people.

For anyone who doesn't know, UK polling stations are mostly set up in community centres and schools but in smaller communities if facilities like that aren't avaliable they'll use whatever's avaliable, a pub for example.
Same in the US, at least where I live in California in a medium size city. Our polling place has been in a recreation center in a public park.
Voting in a pub is sort of amusing since bars are closed on election day in many states, leading to the joke that you cannot get a drink on the day you most need one....
Do you? You've never mentioned that before!

Different in the US particulary in the midwest and west, where the population is much more scattered. A cousin of mine has a ranch in the Sierra foothills, and it is a freakking 25 minute drive to the nearest store. He has to drive 30 miles to his polling place..which is why he votes via mail.

And you opinion of Voting by Mail.
Perfectly possible to allow that transparently, as the UK and many other countries do.

Again, in the UK there is functional anonymity unless an investigation is needed. There is a physical paper trail, the ballots are numbered and recorded with pen and paper when they are handed out. But there is no computer involved and nobody can collect that information unless there is an investigation into voting irregularities.

In fact it isn't data, but evidence that is not collected. Nobody reads the ballot numbers after voting except in very specific situations. And because it is all manual (not even "analogue") there is little to hack and to alter an election would take a massive, physical effort.

At the very minimum, a pencil with an eraser on the end.

And we have freakking postal voting.

And I am not saying that the US should adopt the British election system, but it avoids a lot of the pitfalls of the US systems.

And Australia does as well and deals with dispersed rural populations like the US.

I know (well, assume) this is a joke, but as a serious point anyone attempting this is going to end up in prison long before they manage to change enough votes to make the slightest difference to the outcome of an election. Ballots are cast into locked boxes and opened for counting in large open areas (usually sports halls) with multiple counters, administrators election officials, candidates and servers from all parties present. Mail in ballots are usually filled in in pen anyway, but are double enveloped with the inner, security, one signed by the voter and that signiture is validated before the envelope is opened (again in view of representatives of all parties). My signature is quite variable and I've had a mail in vote rejected as it didn't match what they had on file.

The big numbers, county totals, are somewhow transferred to the state official. Google AI tellls me:

Each county or municipality acts as the central hub for all the precincts within its borders.Central Tabulation: County election officials load the data from every precinct's memory device into a central, air-gapped (not connected to the internet) computer system to aggregate the numbers.Adding Mail and Early Votes: In many jurisdictions, mail-in, absentee, and early-voting ballots are processed and counted at a central county facility rather than at individual precincts. The county combines these massive batches with the precinct totals.Provisional Ballots: During a multi-day period after election night, local officials review and count provisional and cured ballots, adding them to the final total.Local Certification: A local bipartisan group (often called a County Canvassing Board) officially reviews the paperwork, audits discrepancies, and certifies the final countywide totals.

State-Level ConsolidationOnce the county totals are finalized, the results are sent up to the state's chief election official.Transmission: Counties securely transmit their certified data to the state—typically the Secretary of State's office. The State Canvass: State officials accumulate the certified totals from every county to build the final, comprehensive mathematical sum for statewide or multi-county races.Official Certification: A state board of canvassers reviews the numbers, resolves any required automatic or requested recounts, and signs the final document legally certifying the election winners.

The following chart provides an overview of the state canvassing timeframes and recount thresholds in each state. State laws vary on the specific procedures for canvassing election results. In general, local officials (often a county canvassing board) meet within a specified timeframe to canvass and certify election results from precincts within the jurisdiction.

Found the Substack that the Threads poster used. Has the technology details.

Let’s think this through logically. We’re supposed to believe that in all the battleground states, Democratic Party voters were so disillusioned by Vice President Harris’s platform that they voted blue down ballot—but flipped to Trump at the top of the ticket?

Not in early voting.

Not by mail.

With exception to Nevada and Pennsylvania, only on Election Day.

And only after a certain threshold of ballots had been cast—where VP Harris’s numbers begin to diverge from her own party, and Trump’s suddenly begin to surge. As President Biden would say, “C’mon, man.”

It wasn't starlink they attacked the tabulator machines likely from the common power supply with USBs.

I worked w the Election Truth Alliance for 7 mths last year we compiled the data on the election using statistical analysis used in other countries to determine if someone might have cheated in an election.

He cheated in 2020 but the mail-in ballot was much greater than the cheat so he lost, so they adjusted the hack in 2024 to make sure they won.
