Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

That book is part of the problem, Dems aren't asking what's wrong with our message, its what's wrong with people who won't vote for us? And of course, if someone doesn't vote for them, the must be racist morons.
What message do you think would work beyond pie in the sky "we'll bring back industry" lies?

That's the thing, one of the few things that the GOP, including Trump, has said to these people is that one of the reasons that you are suffering is because our industry (coal mining, steel etc) was taken away from you and we will bring it back.

But of course they won't actually bring it back because those industries are deader than George Washington. There isn't a feasible way to bring them back even if that WOULD be a good idea which it very much would not be. So Hillary attempted to say "we will bring training for new industries and new jobs" and it was rejected in favour of the obvious lie of bringing back old industry.

Trump got in. Was the old industry brought back? Hell no, of course not. Even Trump and his minders knew it was a soundbite to get approval from people who were struggling that they could just ignore as soon as the election was done.

So assuming the Democrats aren't going to bald faced lie about bringing back coal mining and steel, and they were rejected in trying to offer new avenues, what else is left?

I have never, ever been so ashamed and embarrassed to be an American. I now empathize more than ever with how the anti-Nazi Germans in the 1930-40's and anti-fascist Italians in the 1920-30's felt. Some people are just too stupid to learn from history.
I am also against big government control of institutions and any increase of of nationalist socialist policies (nazi). I want no new wars or taking over any countries.

I do see that the fascist Nazi claim is a very popular notion for the extreme left. But it didn't work.
More blacks and Hispanics and Jews and gays moved right... not left. They gave Trump the win.

Well, sometimes that's the truth, but some of my fellow republicans also use the old lie that, "libs are socialist, or communist, or Marxist" when they obviously don't even really know what that means. I never vote for those idiots.

I agree and it's just as useless when they do it. And if some day an actual Marxist runs for the presidency, no Dem or independent is going to believe them either.

The utter lack of introspection on the part of the left on this forum at least is depressing, that will result in more losses on the Dems part if they follow suit.

Any message other than, "your a racist moron if you don't vote for me" is a good start.

But that isn't what was said, especially not by Hillary.

You wanna know who's got more class than trump? Harris does. She just called to congratulate him. Good for her! No maga weirdo would ever think of doing that. trump sure didn't when he lost.

ETA: As a matter of fact, maga weirdoes were predicting the dems would bring lawsuit after lawsuit if they lost. Obviously, maga weirdoes are stupid and there's the proof.

My favorite is the claims that the 2020 election was stolen because Trump lost. Trump was in power then. This election, with a democratic president and democratic governor in numerous key swing states and yet Trump won. Why didn't the dems steal the election this time when it should have been even easier? But MAGA doesn't have to make sense. They just shout whatever the charlatans tells them is true.

Really? Was there some hidden meaning behind "deplorable"?
That was a message aimed at working class voters, was it? Or just invective against the large numbers of people like that who supported Trump?

Again, the messaging to the working class was not "you're deplorable". Please try to actually stay on the question that was asked.

Kamala Harris has conceded the election less than a day after the election. Isn't that an interesting contrast with what Trump did in 2020?

We can all give Kamala Harris a some credit for having far more class in this matter than Trump.

Yup, and my fave was when I asked if the dems were able to cheat, why didn't they load the congress with dems, and the only answer they had was that it would be too obvious, but then when I asked how they knew that for a fact, I never got an answer back.

It's obvious that the maga weirdoes are just plain stupid.

This is very true. Even a Harris victory would only have slowed the inevitable decline by a little bit. A Trump presidency will only hasten it a little bit.

The bottom line is we are past the peak of civilization. Its hard to say when it occurred, maybe toe 80s, 90s or even early 2000s but we are most definitely on the down slope now. The liberal order established after WWII is hanging by a thread. The days ahead are very dark indeed. I wouldn't encourage anyone to have children in this day and age. There is really very little to look forward to.
I recall Woodstock where the cry from the stage was Ronald ReaGUNS. Maybe Joan Baez not sure.
Then in 1980 he was apparently planning to start WW3 with star wars.
The opposite happened.
I only point this out because Trump is both predictable and unpredictable.
I find it remarkable that a vote in a shining democracy is not treasured by everyone here.

this reeks more of the left is just so mean so i had to go the right where they're nice to me. i'd imagine this was something you'd heard from bickering with randoms but not the dems themselves. if anything, the dems greatest mistake in this election was tolerating the people that betrayed the nation 4 years ago, trying to be some kind of great reconciler with a bunch of people that didn't want to reconcile.

that's my introspection, and i'm not even a dem. i just know who the bad guys are.

Don't blame "America" in total for what only over half of them voted for. The rest of us (mostly) have some common sense and hate being lumped in with those maggots. A lot of us did what we could.

I highly doubt many of those other voters were truly concerned about "the economy" or even knew the first thing about it. They still don't know what "tariffs" are.

Well, sometimes that's the truth, but some of my fellow republicans also use the old lie that, "libs are socialist, or communist, or Marxist" when they obviously don't even really know what that means. I never vote for those idiots.

Every time I've listened to an interview of a MAGA republican, and not just the ones where they talk to people at rallies but also when they call into cspan or radio shows they are always just the dumbest people and it's so obvious they have no idea what they're taking about and just repeating the vague buzzword nonsense they've been indoctrinated with. It's so embarrassing that just listening to it makes me uncomfortable.

Neither, actually. It was a simple observation that quite a few of the people who supported Trump had their support rooted in rather unpleasant things. That was entirely true. That was combined with an acknowledgement that quite a few of the people who supported Trump had their support rooted in far more, shall we say, kitchen table concerns. That was also entirely true, even if there were problems in the reasoning that led them to support Trump. IIRC, the main point there was to say that many Republicans are decent people and are quite worth reaching out to and working with, even though many Republicans aren't actually so decent. Naturally, Republicans propagandists spread a false version of what she said, like they do all the time about all kinds of things. jt512 appears to have fallen for that false version.

Mainstreaming anti-vax nonsense is yet another possible generational threat posed by a Trump administration. That is If he is stupid enough to actually put RFK in charge of the FDA. And he is stupid enough.
That is an interesting question. I got a feeling a great many in the GOP don't like Kennedy very much, including a lot of "Big Pharma" who are contriubjots to the GOP, and they might, just might, convince Trump to reward Kennedy with some symbolic job like
Health COunselor tothe Presdident" but make somebody not a quack in actual charge of the Health program.

They've been conditioned to just accept everything they're told uncritically. This allows Team Dump to feed them the flimsiest arguments that blow over in the slightest breeze. Heck, even if they realize they're wrong, they'll just endlessly repeat the same lies anyhow, no matter how many times you break out the apples and the crayons and try to explain to them tha 2+2 doesn't equal yellow.

Yup, and I wouldn't doubt that some of them thought that a woman shouldn't be allowed to be President. That it's a man's job and women aren't allowed.
