Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

In a few years' time, we'll think of trumpkins desperately trying to interpret and reinterpret Drumpf's ramblings the same way we think of devotees trying to make sense of people rolling around on the floor speaking in tongues, or people who claim their cats speak a language only they can understand.
Or we'll be living in fascist dictatorship, but I mean, I'm holding out hope for the former.

Actually, this gives me an idea. You know that experiment they did a while back, where they put together sentences of gibberish and presented them as words of wisdom, and asked people what they thought of them? Now I want to do something like that for trumpkins. Make a list of gibberish nonsense statements, with some paragraphs thrown in of writing by psychotic people and others deep in various mental or cognitive states. Present them as things Drumpf have said. See how many gush over them with a straight face and are genuenely impressed.

Come to think of it, now I want to actually give it a try on various forums https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clangingd see what happens. I googled "Examples of writing by people in psychosis" and came up blank, but I can try to ask ChatGPT to give me some hypothetical examples when I get home.
Edit: Oh, oh, oh. The article Clanging (that's when someone has schizophrenia and it makes them talk like Drumpf) has a perfect example:

Fits the "They are eating the pets" theme perfectly. I'll try this and see what they think.

I'm starting to wonder if this project deserves its own thread.

This popped up on an kindle deal last week

First, author Steven Hassan is not a psychiatrist and this ethical principle applies only to psychiatrists who are members of the APA. Secondly, and subtitle aside, the focus is on cults and how people become attached to them, with President Trump as a crucially considered example.

You won't be living in one right away in Norway, it'll be a while before the Russian tanks cross the border at Storskog.

We are all felines. Siamese cat balls. They stand out. I had a cat, a manx, still around here somewhere. You'll know him when you see him. His name is GI Joe; he's black and white. I have a goldfish too, like a clown. Happy Halloween down. Down.

Isn't that from Trump's speech last Saturday?

Conservatives Remembering to Pretend to Care About the National Debt is always my favorite part of an election year, but it takes a special kind of gullible to believe that the guy who added $8 trillion to the national debt is going to reduce it if he gets into office again. He of course promised to reduce the debt the first time he was running for office. But this time it's for real. Pinky swear.

I bet you're really fired up for Trump's healthcare plan, too. I heard he's going to unveil it in two weeks. And Trump's Infrastructure Week must really have you excited.
Exactly, and Republicans ALWAYS run up the national debt and deficits when they are in office.

Oh thank goodness you're back! I knew one of our chew toys was missing.

Also, nobody intelligent gives a **** what you think.
Yes! I'm back! And now I'm "Well-known!"

As for Trump's "weave," MAGA people (as Pentecostals) don't go to his rallies for his words, but for the feels. They crave the transcending of their miserable selves into the assimilation and enthusiasm of the mob.

Trump is kicking off Monday morning with a rally at an arena in Raleigh

It’s far from a full house, and no line outside.

Plus he arrived late again.

He's packing 4 in today.

Surely the people at the rallies where he is claiming to fill an arena - especially who have been placed behind him - are hit with cognitive dissonance when he is claiming these places are full to the rafters - they are often staring right at empty seats!

(cross-thread post)
Empty seats directly behind him on this day before the Election. Lots of people sitting down. He's toast.

I remember when one of the main arguments for why Dump would win in 2016 was that he brought yuge crowds to his rallies. If so then the opposite must be a good sign, Shirley.

I'm less certain about all the high-level Republicans abandoning him. I mean, there were plenty Never Dumpers in 2016, too, and they probably all got whiplash from how quickly they turned around to declare their undying support for him.

By the way, I just realized what was so great about Führer Dump's stunt at the airport, where he played make-believe with that truck. It was the garbage driving the garbage truck. A perfect unintentional metaphor for, I don't know, a whole range of things. Obviously he should've been stuffed in an XXL bin and dumped in the back for the event, but instead he got behind the wheel, which in turn is something I'd expect out of some weird surreal decades-old cartoon. Imagine trash making its way to the driver's cabin, climbing in, and driving off. That was Dump on that day.

All this will fly over his supporters' heads, of course (they'll probably spin even his cumbersome, lumbering walk as a positive, he's the ageing hero working tirelessly for MAGA and Murica despite his ailments), but the rest of us can relish the unintentional irony.
My bold. He was in the passenger seat. I don't think he actually knows how to drive anything but a golf cart.

Exactly right. He can't even open the door on the first try. There is no way he would drive a truck.

Tucker:

"People are like, 'oh, well, we had another hurricane, it must be global warming.' No! It's probably abortion, actually. Just being honest. You can't kill children on purpose. You can't participate in human sacrifice without consequences."

It makes perfect sense, though. Earlier this year, Florida enacted a law that dramatically limits abortions, and a few months later Florida got hit by a huge hurricane.

Oh, wait-

I had the same reaction as when Biden called Drumpf voters garbage. "Does he want his side to lose the election?"

Donald says that he intends to place 25 percent tariffs on all Mexican imports unless Mexico shuts down its border.

Better prepare for a hike in food prices then.
