Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

Someone on MSNBC said that the MAGA rally in Madison Square Garden is very reminiscent of the America First rally held in 1939. That was a Nazi rally, prior to WWII. Seems like an accurate statement.

So he basically went with the 'its just a joke bro' defence.

He also did the "I made fun of everyone, not just Puerto Rico(ans)" bit too. I noticed a few people pointed out that there weren't any jokes about the whities during his set. So "everyone" just included people that don't have white skin, apparently.

For anyone interested, here's a couple of links:

Note: The 1939 rally was organized by the German American Bund. The America First Committee started in 1940, and was fronted by Charles Lindbergh and associated for a time with Henry Ford was a different organization, was strongly anti-Semitic but not openly pro-Nazi, and had no known direct connections to the German American Bund, though there were some sympathizers.

Comedians read the room and make jokes accordingly. He knew making fun of white people at a white supremacist rally may have gotten him killed.

Oh, that makes it even more accurate. Nazi who pretend not to be but still have the racist hate and rhetoric.

I read that one of the speakers even said it was a Nazi rally. And the "comedian"'s bit was vetted and on the teleprompter, so it's not like he went off-script.

Yes, Beelzebuffy, the selection of responders to a poll mkes it...what?...not a poll. The days of calling 900 random land lines are long gone.

I see we have none of our usual Trump supporters in this thread trying desperately to handwave away what happened at the MSG rally. Maybe even they realize there is no rational explanation for it except that Trump and MAGA are racist, bigoted, fascist POS?

In all honesty, what would they even say? At some point they have to run out of excuses.

The sad thing is after this Tony guy said all this his social media blew up. People actually wanted to hear more from him after the show.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least bit that the choice being very intentional. Just skip the whistle and yell, "Here Blondi!" out loud.

Not that they're racist or bigots. Nah.......

Or even funny. I'm not the king of comedy by any means (they are ******* hilarious) but none of the jokes even landed.
Like the Puerto Rico "joke"- if an avowed racist saying exactly the same thing wouldn't be considered funny, why is it supposed to be so just because it's coming from a smarmy edgelord who calls himself a comedian?

There is so much disinformation out there I don't know what is going to happen nationwide or in the swing states.

I feel I do know this. Trump will lose the state of Washington by a larger margin than he did in 2016 or 2020. This is a blue state. But I live in the deep red portion of the state. In 2020, there were Trump signs, bumper stickers and flags everywhere. There were lines of pickup trucks with Trump flags waving from the back patrolling this small town. They would camp on the highway overpass at least two afternoons every week for the the three months preceeding the election right up to the election.

But this year there is little visible support for Trump. Two weeks ago I saw two pickup obnoxiously honking their horns with Trump flags. But that is it. Last election cycle, I saw that happening many times ecery day. They haven't been on that overpass once leading up to today. Not once. Eight of my neighbors homes had Trump flags flying in 2020. This year there is one.

Granted, this is anecdotal. Still, this makes me feel cautiously optimistic.

Good cause for cautious optimism is good. Especially when we're facing a political party where truly horrible people pretty much run the show.

Seriously, in what world does stuff like this not show that the people in question are truly horrible?

“Put Them in Trauma”: Inside a Key MAGA Leader’s Plans for a New Trump Agenda

A key ally to former President Donald Trump detailed plans to deploy the military in response to domestic unrest, defund the Environmental Protection Agency and put career civil servants “in trauma” in a series of previously unreported speeches that provide a sweeping vision for a second Trump term.

In private speeches delivered in 2023 and 2024, Russell Vought, who served as Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget, described his work crafting legal justifications so that military leaders or government lawyers would not stop Trump’s executive actions.

He said the plans are a response to a “Marxist takeover” of the country; likened the moment to 1776 and 1860, when the country was at war or on the brink of it; and said the timing of Trump’s candidacy was a “gift of God.”

But Trump must be winning. Elon says

Pennsylvania voter registration data from last week just came in and Republican registrations exceeded Democrat by 85%!!

GOP +36,507
DEM +19,774

And he's a genius and the richest man on earth so he should know.
