2016 Presidential Debate III

The "I didn't know these women" is such a bizarre denial. It is trivial to show they (or at least a few of them) did meet with him. Why choose that as your denial?

It is quite possible that he did not remember meeting these women. Consider the reality that he does not see women as peopl.

A smart politician with experience evading questions might have spun it into flirtatiosness or something lesser, not flat out denial.

Donald is a complete moron. No box has been left unchecked.

It's fascinating that Trump is unable to edit his own statements. Every single answer he gave last night should have been focused on expanding his base. Disagreeing with our own intelligence services and interjecting to call Clinton a "nasty woman" doesn't make anyone on the fence want to vote for him.

It has been pointed out before that Clinton had been needling "Donald" and had slipped in an attack that, whilst effective, shouldn't have discombobulated a pupil running for a place on a school council.

Evil? No, but I would have preferred someone with less baggage. Given the current political environment, unless she has majorities in both houses, the Republican will look like they were downright buddies with Obama as compared to how they stonewall everything she tries to do. They will not try to compromise, they will double down on the obstructionism. The Republican scorched earth policy will continue.

If she had a congress she could work with, I really think she could be a great president. But the Republicans will not allow that to happen even if they have to complete the destruction of their own party in the process.

All of the baggage she is carrying has been loaded on her courtesy of those same Republicans. They've been gunning for her since she got to Washington. A quarter century ago.

So her baggage is irrelevant to their attitude. If she didn't have it they'd just load her up with more. Filled with the same sort of bull feces they have such a long history of using.

Same way they did Obama.

No, I don't think so. The Republican leadership knows they are in trouble and that they have to cooperate in order to survive. If the Democrat wasn't someone who has been a lightning rod of right wing vitriol for two decades then they could work with them. But with Hillary there is no chance whatsoever.

They all know their decades long campaign against Hillary is built on lies. It isn't like very many of them actually believe any of it. That's just for the chumps that vote them in.

And they are all champs at hypocrisy. They wouldn't blink at changing their tune about her if they thought they could do it and talk their way out of any repercussions with their base.

No. The problem is that they will keep digging the hole they are in. Their only strategy is doubling down. If it doesn't work then do more of it.

Hopefully they'll age out before too much more damage is done.

This is supposed to be classified? From Hollywood movies and TV I thought it was common knowledge.

Indeed, she could have just been using the 4 minute timeline because that's what's in the movies. Perhaps the real figure is 2 or 6 minutes.

Yeah, but they really dislike Hillary. Trump has done the unthinkable, amazingly, by uniting democrats and republicans alike in saying "you know, she actually sounds okay." But not McConnell or Ryan.

I've been saying for years that running Hillary would be a mistake, not because she's unelectable, but because she has such a gigantic target for idiological ******** painted on her back. And now the GOP congresscritters will have their anger and frustration about Trump ruining everything, but no Trump to take it out on.

She'll be in for a rough 8 years.

I think that it would be true of any Democratic Party president - look how ridiculously obstructionist the GOP has been during Obama's tenure. At least it's possible that Hillary has the experience, contacts and nowse to end-around some of it.

I fully expect a continuation of the same, including a GOP refusal to even consider any Hillary SCOTUS nominees for the full 4 or 8 years.

Yes.

Which is why Trumps hysteria is bollocks

Do you mean hysteria about Trump? Agreed.

Because Trump the man is hysterical about a great many things, such as his recent squawk that Hillary will utterly destroy the US if elected.

That's an exact flip of some believing Donald would do the same, which I don't agree with. He would damage the country, perhaps badly and for years to come, but I don't believe he could destroy us. *fingers crossed*

......I fully expect a continuation of the same, including a GOP refusal to even consider any Hillary SCOTUS nominees for the full 4 or 8 years.

Nate Silver has them losing control of the Senate, so I don't see how this obstructionism would apply.

No worries.

All she has to do is find the bloke with the suitcase. Unlock the football. Grab the biscuit. Find phone reception and call the Secretary of defence. Get him to sign it off. Preferably with congresses agreeing, but no big deal if not.

Or that could all be just for show and she just rings and gives them a go word on a usb stick in her pocket

True, but this is at a low point in Trump's numbers. It's likely that over the next three weeks they will recover enough and/or the GOP will direct their effort into the down-ticket races in order to pull back the position enough to retain control over the Senate.

Democratic Party optimism over getting back control of the Senate, and possibly even the House, is IMO over-inflated based on the current state of the game. IMO it'll be a lot closer on the night, especially in the Senate and House contests.

He should have just said that he would accept it. It would have been a lie but he lies all the time.

The thing is, he is a terrible liar. As others have said he's a BS artist. He doesn't really know what he's saying. He just blurts out something random that he thinks will appear to have the appearance of truth without giving it any thought.

Yes but our technology wouldn't have gotten worse since the 1960's. If it took 4 minutes from Presidential order to launch in 1963, it wouldn't take longer today. It should, if anything be shorter..

If you only take tech into consideration, sure. Bureaucratic stuff may lengthen this.

Impossible to know for sure. And where Obama is a much better orator I believe Hillary to be better at governing. I always thought that Obama particularly in his first term did not know how to wield his power. Yes Congress obstructed most of what he did but when the Clintons were in power before they constantly invited members of both parties of Congress to the White House. This hardly happened at all during either W's or Obama's administration. Hillary is so so at the public stuff. but both her and Bill are masters at personal persuaion.

Things may very well continue with a legislative impasse, but I'm optimistic that Hill will get things done.

Actually, they dont. Publicly yes, but privately she has always had a reputation of being able to work with people.

Republican "leaders" in Congress would do the exact same thing to any Democrat. Those scumbags decided on day one of Obama's presidency that their top goal was to destroy Obama through obstruction. They have no real interest in governing the country. Only in implementing their trash ideology.

Didn't work. Obama is now a popular two term President.

That might be politically risky. Remember when the Republicans shut down the government? That hurt them for a while although they got a reprieve when the Obamacare rollout was such a disaster. If only the Obamacare rollout had gone smoothly from a technical perspective, it would probably have been a bigger problem for Republicans. It was such a blown opportunity for Democrats.
