Woah! Look what happens when I don't check this thread for a few days (because I was disheartened by seeing the same conspiracy theory claims I've seen too many times)!
Well done, Dog Boots, for:
a) doing your homework;
b) keeping an open mind - it may have got you into the CT, but it did get you out of it;
c) admitting when you were wrong;
d) keeping your temper (exemplary behaviour for others on both sides of the argument).

Hats off to BPSCG, Regnad Kcin, bob_kark and LW for their apologies to Dog Boots. I don't think there are any more obvious ones owing.
I'm happy this thread has lasted so long, despite its fits and starts. Perhaps more than one lesson has been learned.
