Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.
So I read an article the other day that astronomers have looked 13.2 billion years back in time basically, or roughly 500 million years before the supposed big bang.
So if the big bang actually happened, could astronomers finally prove it by looking back that extra 500 million years?
Would...
Doing a bit of maintaince on my old computer and I notice my main C drive space was almost all gone.
My hard-drive is divided into 3 sections C D and E. E is very tiny and in FAT and is the restore drive. D is not FAT and is the back up drive with oodles of space and C the main drive with...
I am terrible at maths, I failed it 5 times as a GCSE. I am terrible at all sciences, and I couldn't fix my car if I was stuck in a desert. I smoke, I drink, and I find it boring to even run to the toilet.
So I attempt to live my life through my nephew, at least the dreams I had when I was a...
Very interesting :

It turns out that our current theory of planet formation may need to be rewritten yet again.
I don't have enough posts yet to place a link but for those that are interested, the New Horizons Probe is making its closest approach to Jupiter today to gain a gravity boost for its journey to Pluto. A quick Google search will show some really cool pictures that it has taken.
Here's a link to a feature available through the Washington Post web site: a series of photographs of the Earth from Space, on display at the U.S. National Air and Space Museum.

An interesting article. It seems that studying cosmic rays and their effects on genes will help us go a long way towards understanding how life on Earth made the leap from bacteria and algae into more...

A very well detailed analysis of the UFO's caught on NASA's satellite UV camera's.
What do you think?
Guys,
One of the most f*****g frustrating games ever!!! Why is it that some games I can play for a really long time and other games are over before they begin? Does anyone have a strategies for the game? I know about the importance of the Hyperspace Chute and hitting that often, as well as...
I hardly know what to make of this; does anyone know anything more about the story?

Assuming the guy's description of what these things are doing is accurate (i.e., they lack DNA but readily reproduce in 600-degree water), none of...
Always worth keeping kooks where you can see them, I occasionally call in at Lucianarchys dormant internet forum.
Except it has now sprung to life and has been renamed Serpo Project forum and Open mind.
Seems project Serpo is a project following the saving of an alien in the Roswell crash...
Reading through the latest challenge kook, another one that can summons UFOs or spaceships. And the applicant says they have to allow for weather.
What is it with the clear skies stipulation? If these craft can travel accross the universe, through extreme cold and darkness, aparently at...
For those of you that don't know, a new reality TV series starts tonight in which a group of people are told that they will become Britain's frist space tourists. In fact, it's all a hoax, and instead of being in Russia as they've been told, they are in fact at an old airforce base in Suffolk...
Just a quick dumb question for those Physics minds in-the-know.
All of the billions and billions of stars are emitting light, and other, energy constantly and continously (for the most part). Some of this we receive here on our nice planet earth. Obviously most of this tremendous amount of...

Ministers from 17 European countries meet in Berlin on Monday to discuss the future of Europe's space programme. They will decide whether to give the go-ahead to a series of space missions proposed for the next decade.
New space proposals being discussed include:
The ExoMars mission to put...
The 'Stupid Teleportation topic' thread in the 'Religion and Philosophy' forum reminded me of a particular conundrum that we, as a highly technological society, face.
In the not too distant past, I was very 'starry' eyed about the prospects of humanity venturing out into the universe (to...
Thought this might interest sceptics:

As a matter of interest, how many ways can you come up with of checking whether you're in near earth orbit or not?
:)
I know it's an old favourite, but Star Trek: Enterprise just had Capt Archer being shot out into vacuum.
What's the definitive word on what happens when you get exposed to space vacuum? I know I've read various discussions, but I can't remember the authoritative answer.

That was the Columbia. The Challenger disaster was caused by an O-ring malfunction.
I'm sure it was a simple slip of the brain; we've equated shuttle disasters with the name Challenger for so long that it's totally understandable...
Heard this from a caller on the Bill O'Reilly radio show moments ago. They are talking about the new Star Wars movie coming out. Bill thinks this will set the new box office record? This caller says that he has watched past Star Wars and it bothers him that the effects are wrong because he said...
