Iranian cities hit by anti-government protests
There are some direct reports on twitter showing chanters demanding the Mullahs leave the country. Calls for and end to Islamic rule and even shouts of Death to Rouhani.
Unfortunately, as long as the armed forces side with the Mullahs, these...

Well, that's certainly a thing. What kind of thing I'm not sure yet, but it's definitely a thing.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important chokepoints in the world, something like 20% of the world's oil passes through it. Iran threatens to close it if export of their oil is blocked. Now, I doubt they are crazy enough to do this but if they can't export oil, their economy will be...
First we learned that Ahmadinejad got "spanked" for talking about more freedoms and trying to ease the restrictions on the Iranian Press...
And now this:
The cable, which the AP says was made public on Tuesday by WikiLeaks, makes clear that while Ahmadinejad was keen to hammer out some sort...
We've seen his latest 9/11 truth statement. After reading everything he's said for the last few years, I'm convinced that if I would have said such things, nobody would take me seriously. In fact, I'd probably be advised to see a psychiatrist.
So do you think Ahmadinejad is really insane? Or do...
They just banned two of the last remaining opposition parties, and media.

Of course...
Democracy in Iran is going...
Six years for opposing Ahmadinejad... goodness, sounds like Nazi Germany during Hitler's reign. In another thread I commented that I work with a guy from Iran who is visiting on a work visa. His wife is a semi-famous musician with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. They have had friends who support...
Something I've been pondering.
China and India are making huge steps forward and growing into major international players.
Iran/Persia is traditionally one of the great regional powers, and if you back far enough, a superpower.
After the revolution the country morphed into a kind of...
So somebody just exploded some Iranian Revolutionary Guard leaders.
HuffPo says that Iran is blaming Jundallah, a Taliban linked sunni insurgent group:
"Iranian officials have accused Jundallah of receiving support from al-Qaida and the Taliban in neighboring Pakistan, though some analysts who...
From the CNN story:
My thinking is that even if he did fire 2 people recently, if the law requires a confidence vote, he'll simply "un-fire" one of them to weasel out of it.
On the other hand, he might also twist a few arms and run the vote to go his way which would help him get a bit of...
Although you may have missed it thanks to the round-the-clock coverage of Michael Jackson's corpse, the Iranian rebellion (I don't think you can call it any less) is ongoing, and seems to be heating up.
Iran has started seriously cracking down on protestors; people are reporting everything from...
Guardian Council Rejects Plea to Annul Vote
Amazing. There is now the proverbial "smoking gun" evidence that there was massive fraud in Iran's election, by the Guardian Council's own admission that "the ballots recorded in 50 cities exceeded the number of eligible voters by a total of three...
Watched the Neda video on Live Leak. Don't know why. I hate watching death videos. US TV is scrubbed clean of them, but it wouldn't surprise me if European channels broadcast it.
Hopefully things will change over there. It appears to be a massive rallying cry.
It's described as she's shot...
Warning, following these stories is meddling in the affairs of a soverign nation.

...or not.
I am very happy to see thousands of brave Iranians give the finger to Mr. Ayatollah and protest against the police and the army. They face mortal danger.
But yet, a lot less people came out this Saturday. Was it...
It took the Iranian election officials 1.5 hours to declare that all 40-million paper ballots across the vast nation had been tallied and the Winner was 'obvious'.
Today, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Republic would not cheat or betray the vote of the people. He said President Mahmoud...

Ah, Stalin and Goebles would appreciate the product if not the artistry.
If you have geek skills, an extra machine, and an interest in undermining fascist censorship, please help! Here's how you can set up an anonymous proxy server to help Iranians bypass the Internet barriers:

While I'm sure there is some political discussion on the subject going on, considering the current protesting and violence in Iran today (as a result of the election results), isn't the subject also of note for the social...
Everyone's favorite Iranian president has been "re-elected".
Check it out:

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/06/04/iran.election.debate/index.html
In the compromised democratic system of Iran, it's good to see that a more moderate leader could still come to power. Iran needs it, as does the Middle East.
Woohoo! I hope the debates will be translated so I can watch them as eagerly as I watched the American presidential debates. It's one of the rare chances to get some deeper insight about what the current domestic Issues are in Iran. And I already suspect that Israel is one of the least debated...
Not that this should come as any surprise.
This is actually with his press adviser, not Ahmadinejad himself.
