I'm wondering what falsifable predictions about the climate have been made on either side of the debate.
Only non-vague predictions that will either be proven true or false in the future.
It seems to me that almost all librarians agree that AGW is real and that climate change is a very important issue. Why is this? Is it perhaps because librarians are trained to judge the validity of their sources on scientific matters?
Is the goal of the Copenhagen climate change conference to halt and lower the level of CO2 in the atmosphere, or is it an effort to exact a measure of social justice on wealthy nations to redistribute wealth to the rest?
The question arises because the math is quite clear: humans, according to...
This may not be the right forum since the debate was a jumble of science, economics and politics.

I certainly look forward to the deniers' studies on this. I'm sure that having the data that was already available, but will now be double plus extra special available will spur them to action.

Lord Stern wants us all to go vegetarian to 'save the planet'.
I'm as concerned as the average citizen of garden Earth regards solution and climate change, but I am not certain if human kind is 100% the cause of climate change (we must take into consideration that big orange ball in the sky...
Peer-Reviewed Papers Supporting Skepticism of "Man-Made" Global Warming
Another common myth is that no peer-reviewed papers exist disputing "man-made" global warming or the various environmental and economic effects.
Myth debunked.
Found this via the Little Green Footballs weblog, which has lately become one of my favorite blogs.

Is the U.S. Surface Temperature Record Reliable? (PDF) (Anthony Watts, AMS Certified Meteorologist)
89% of U.S. temperature stations are biased by +1-5 °C
The temperature has only increased 0.6°C in the last 100 Years (IPCC)
Suppose we get our act together and get a handle of Anthropogenic Global Warming. We make changes in technology, get carbon sequestering online and get some carbon sinks going and so, in say a century or so, things stabilize. Then a massive mantle plume under Africa breaks through the surface...
Using my handy slide rule and easy-to-find calculations of the volume of the land-based icecaps, I came up with a 70-metre sea level rise if the Greenland and Antarctic sheets melted. I did not factor in the density of H2O in different states at various temperatures, nor did I include the...

This seems to have been missed by the media, although it's very new research that's still partly speculative. If the research was summarized accurately then the uncertainty seems to be whether it'll take years, decades, or centuries for the methane to be released, since the Arctic is already...
I know pretty much nothing about global warming/climate change. Can you guys provide links to legitimate sites that debunk (or support) global warming myths? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Ok. For those that like to make graphs and argue that climate change is not real or associated with phenomena other than C02. Can you show data in graph form that is better than this?

Hi everyone.
I'm new here and thought I'd start with this little list I've built up after being in a couple of climate change/global warming forums and reading messages at quite a few more.
I make no claim to this list being exhaustive and say nothing about the contents. I have seen all these...
I am not a scientist.
I don't even play one on TV.
So my views tend rather away from the picayune and pedantic, into which most conversations on this issue quickly devolve. I don't have links. I will not shuffle through endless reams of esoteric "studies" of ice core bubbles and seafloor...
I've read that water vapor plays a big role in Global Warming but I've talked to many anti-globalization activists that insist it plays no part whatsoever.
I'm hoping that someone can enlighten me as to whether either position is true or if it is somewhere in between.
Once you've answered the poll question, please post the strongest one or two brief arguments that support your position and the strongest one or two brief arguments against your position. I will gather these and ask for counter arguments when the poll responses slow down significantly.
Please...
