Not that long ago, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Aung San Suu Kyi was a hero of the democratic struggle. I wonder if there will be as much of an outcry now that the military have taken over, as there would have been only a few years ago.
The Rohingya Muslims have lived in Burma for more than 1,000 years.

Their connections to the land are beyond dispute.
However, the government of Burma refuses to recognize them as a people, and therefore refuses them citizenship...

Over here, it's been common discussion for years that she was just as biased against the Rohingya minority as the ruling class in Myanmar.
The British press is at least covering it...
With the recent cyclone in Burma, there has been speculation the Burmese Junta did not warn its population out of a punishment for the recent pro-democracy activities.
Whilst it may be ignorance that is to blame for this, it is an interesting question nonetheless. I know not of any evidence...
