Trump wants to reduce capability of newest aircraft carrier.

On other forums some people are responding to Trump's insanity by suggesting that Trump wants to go back to steam power. I read those posts and think "WTF?". :)

While gas turbine propulsion is one of the newest (1972) forms of warship propulsion, steam propulsion plants are the norm for any nuclear powered warship since 1954. I tried to explain this to some of the posters, but I think I'm wasting my time.

My first two ships had both gas and steam turbines.
The others just steam.

Steam for normal cruise and gas turbine as a boost for high speed running.
The gad turbines were also used for a quick getaway with cold boilers instead of having to wait while steam was flashing up.

And he reportedly wants to move the island forward in the Ford class.

For aesthetic reasons. He is a dangerous fool because he doesn't know how much of an idiot he is.

I guess he can't understand that some jobs require more in-depth knowledge and aptitude than that needed to run a profit in a casino.

I'd have trouble voting for him for his aesthetic taste alone.
It's not an original observation but Trump's tastes are all childish: the cartoon notion of what a rich person's house and office looks like. Richie Rich. Not only does he think appearance is better than substance, he has no real taste for appearances. He would take the worst-looking marble over the most beautiful hardwood. He genuinely prefers faux-gold doodads to genuine expensive luxury. Shiny > not shiny. Gold-colored > any other color. A shiny brass pot from Pier 1 would impress him more than a Song dynasty celadon vase.

It really is. If you tried to parody someone with more money than taste, Trump would be over top.

Even before he started stuffing additional junk in his trunk I don't remember seeing him in a suit that fitted well
Certainly not a proper bespoke, tailored suit.

I know the American style is for a looser, more boxy fit than a British or European style, but he wears baggy sacks.
