Welcome new Members! Introduce yourselves here! Part II

Hello there,

I was looking into the JFK assassination and happened upon version III of the JFK conspiracy thread here. After reading 50 pages or so and having a look around, I figured I'd sign up. It seems like some good discussion goes on here. Not sure how much I'll contribute, but I thought I'd myself known before going back into lurker mode.
Welcom, and thanks for introducing yourself! I hope you find a lot more to interest you and maybe comment on.

Don't let my avatar put you off - welcome, and please wander around all areas and stick around. There's a lot to talk about.

Hello, my name is Bill. I joined here because member Emily the Cat put her hand on my throat, shoved me up against the wall, and told me if I didn't join here she would remove all of my grey hairs with tweezers and then she punched me in the stomach! 😋

You had me all worked up for an entirely different ending, but Welcome to the Forum anyway!

My name is Nigel. This is not going to go well. For you. Me. The mods. My wife. And anyone that has to listen to the stories of me being here. Prove me wrong. If you do prove me wrong.... you will have done better than reddit, youtube, fakefakeologist, somedumb-alt-history forum, public schooling, the biden forum, the trump forum, the we-dont-like-either forum, the comedy forum, the no-comedy-allowed forum, the hermetically sealed body exit forum, the shoot-from-the-hip-lets-have-some-fun forum. The dont be long winded forum aaaannnnnnnddd the be concise and intelligent forum.

Just know this. I would love to have a conversation and discussion with you. I would love to have a debate with you. But i will. Not be. able. to finish. a back and forth with you. Because my cynical, laser focused, return-fire of the same sideways comments tou copy and oasted from the last new guy reaponse, will have mods flipping pages to find where i broke any rules because they will ban me tomorrow.... and you will sit here with the same 3 to 12 people you have sat here with for years and gang up on the next new guy or argue amongst yourself.

Oh. And i dont proof read or watch for proper punctuation most the time. because, the man behind the curtain, Tim, at fakeologist (Ab, if you are lucky enough to not figure that out), told me only cointelpro does NOT check for punctuation and grammar. So now, i type facts, opinions based in public facts or theories based in public facts, on a marry-go-round while drinking malt liquor and bottom shelf gin.

Hows that? Ive done the "Hi I'm Nigel its nice to be here" before. I did the edgy "is this controlled opposition" at Sept Clues. Aaand i.... cant log into anything except YouTube. Because the CIA flooded Australia in mid 90s and early 2000's witha bunch of "oi mate that's a buncha nonsense" agents that are in the twilight of their careers.

And i promise you. I know what you were going to say either way and who you were sending, depending on the angle i took. Id be better off reading the entire forum to get a lay out of the accepted, not accepted views, and opinions, then play dumb, humble, and eager to just fit in. And then.... i would need to hold that position until i die, if i wanted to not have to defend myself with responses that are more witty and sly than the ones i recieved... until everyone just got offended and said "i just dont get it". Even though, i never sent one foul message first.

Anyway. This is my first forum. Hope it goes well.

Primus and xtc did. And that was the first joke at fakefakeologist. So not onky sre your jokes from the 80s and 90s they arent original either. Aint that something. First bounce you proved my rambling was based on facts. Thanks for that Mr Scooter. Vespadouglas. Vespi. Vessi dougie. Are you able to pay your utilities or are you still on their forums asking to not get the lights shut off?

Literally jamming them now. Did i tell you about the time i got my skull cracked at a primus concert in the 90s? I got my jaw kicked in at Dying Fetus in 2010s. I had to wrap a car around a tree in the 2000s to top that. That was just a shattered neck though. Vespa. I really dont understand you, but its great to be hanging out with you again.

So how do you guys like new people to talk about stuff? Starting new threads better be good and they better aling with the in crowds beliefs, i get that. Commenting on long running threads better have fresh up to date comments with full knowledge of all previous comments and consensus. I get that.

So. How do you prefer new people to join your conversations?

(*Australian CIA agents flipping through manuals front to back)

To not ask a loaded question, because i can hear ozzies peaking out from behind kangaroos, how about these? 9/11. I will destroy your reality. Wait for it.... all of you. Why? Because you sre wrong. And because i am still working on it. But "I" (i dont know how to make italics) am based in facts, suppositions and inferences. The only thing worse than the official story is judywoodfanboys. The fringe guys like LongCon and 9/11revisionist and his little side kick MES math 9/11 are just there to keep people at arms length. So for 9/11. Yes im ready to start with your basic go to's. Im ready for you rhymes and riddles. Just be ready for my public documents. And public knowledge paper trail, laws, history. Remember, i use nothing outside of public documents or public knowledge. That does not always lead to complete facts. But it does do more than enough to require concern or investigation at a scientific or legal level.

@nt1 : Sup, yo? Welcome to the forum! To answer your questions above:

To engage, just jump in and speak your mind. Start a thread, post in an existing discussion, whatever. We don't have an in-club or hive mind; it;s an eclectic crew here and half of us don't even like the other half. Don't be shy.

Regaarding 9/11 themed discussions: baby, you've come to the right place. No riddles, just a small army of critical thinking engineers and a lot of takes on the subject that you haven't run across on twitter. This used to be the battleground for those with various conspiracy theories that their proponents thought would never be broken.

Our search function is down forum wide, but the 9/11 discussions are in Conspiracies. Hop in and start yapping, a lot of forumites will guide you to the appropriate thread if necessary.

Most important- read the rules. Theres only about a dozen, but they will keep things productive and prevent running afoul and getting actioned and stuff.

Jump in and enjoy! But seriously, start proofreading. In a highly technical discussion "oh hey man that was another typo LOL" is going to be met with mockery and ridicule, and rightly so.

Go get 'em, tiger.

What Thermal said, plus the way to put text into italics is to highlight the word or phrase you want italicised, and then tap the capital I at the top of the edit box. It's the second one along, after the B (which is the one to use if you want to make text bold).

Welcome to the forum, have fun.

Thank you. I will do everything tou recommended except purposely proof reading and editing. I saved you my long response. But trust me, i wont. Ive read perfectly punctuated trash and ive had a homeless man, with no teeth, say something more enlightening then some graduates would have been able to compose. If I am more logical in a discussion, but miss a spelling and punctuation, and someone sides with the other person over grammar. I wasnt going to be able to help them anyway. A bias to nice packaging over truth or a genuine attempt, is what got us to where we are today. Thanks. Ill go read the rules.

I do not agree on the issue of proofreading. I have forgotten his name now, but some years ago there was a poster here who was some kind of handyman/building superintendent in a city like Chicago. Poorly educated, and by his own account dyslexic, a bad typist and a laborious writer, he made coherent contributions to threads (even when one did not agree), and was easy to communicate with, because he had some respect for the people he was writing to, and took time to proofread, which in his case was likely pretty intensive. It was more interesting to read about his struggles with a rusty car and bad plumbing, and occasionally misinformed ideas about politics and social interactions, than to wade through some other people's poorly-edited and uncondensed spiritual excursions.

We all make mistakes from time to time, and typos and errors in hasty posts, but if you take no care in your writing it suggests you care little for those who have to read it. Neat packaging and truth are not mutually exclusive. While people of no substance or honesty certainly can doll up their nonsense with style, it does not mean those who speak the truth must compensate with neglect or to think good ideas require poor expression. Lack of punctuation and capitalization are not just conveniences for you. They are an imposition on your readers. You may assume what you say is more important than how you say it, but that is cold comfort if people don't bother to take the trouble at all. If you want people to heed what you say, take the time to say it well.

Hahaha. Did i say I take no care? Have I posted several long posts and replies here? Are they bumbling disfigured messes?

Did you catch the actual message? I will happy to spell it out again.

In forums. A grammatical error or poor punctuation will be used against a new person posting to discredit them by the controlling group.

I was calling that out before i began here.

Let me spell this out.

My introduction post was a satirical way of saying that I am fully aware of the tactics, or just simply the common gang mentality, of an online forum. And so far it has proven nothing but accurate.

What was the first reply?

"Are they making plans for you?"

Same reference fro. Vespadouglas on the other forum.

I typed that long message showing basic knowledge of how these forums operate and the first reply was a smart refernce to my name and song. The second was a genuine attempt, but still needed to warn about punctuation and grammar. Which is the exact reason i addex the reference. And here you are. With the essay about a mechanic and his chicken pecking slow typing for the good of humanity.

Read your essay and compare it to my posts.

Do they look like this?

"Hi guyz. Im new herebut i am happy tob be here. Me like to draw in crayon"

See? I can see a few in there.

I type from the heart. I do not hover over my words and polish them to gain admiration or acceptance. If i say something. I mean it. I also am not interested in being a professional author or a weekend warrior with the incrowd of anything.

Quarter million threads. Fourteen million posts. 20 members and 400 guests online at any time.

No one has said "whats up dude" "welcome" or "shut up we dont do that around here, dont accuse us of running an operation against new accounts".

Nope.

One slick reply about my name. One genuine one but still added something about punctuation and grammar, as if I had started with "hewwo how is youall doings today???". Then you. With the story of the poor mechanic poking a keyboard slowly for the good of humanity.

My brother. My friend. Is it difficult to not be so obvious? How do you think it's going to go when i respond in threads? Forget the punctuation thing you teo latched into out of all the things i said. Are you oblivious and just both hung up on grammar? Or did you read that and go, "well, this isnt going to be like running off the last new guy."

You dont understand. I would love to have a discussion with people. I just know full well, and there have been no surprises so far, how this is going to go. Because you are the exact example of why I started with that sarcastic satirical opening. This message will be the second time I've said i would love to have a discussion or debate about a topic. Yet. Here we are. Tslking about mechanics and the fact I pointed out that i knew one of the hangups or tactics used in an online forum against new accounts adding opinions to discussions.

Hopefully this wasn't too difficult to read. Hopefully I will aspire to be able to type like Jimmy did between oil changes. Thanks big guy.

My response was not to anything specific in your posting or your style, but only to the pronouncement that you would not proofread or edit.

I do not think you will be taken to task for the occasional mistyping and that sort of thing here, though I suppose there are exceptions everywhere, and if you can make your ideas clear how you do it is of no concern. I just meant to point out that there can be good reasons to take care in your writing.

Apologies if it came off as a personal attack. My intention was a general opinion on a specific statement.

Da ◊◊◊◊ am I, chopped liver? My first words to you were a 'sup?' and welcome. Pixel42 welcomed you, and gave you a tip about a posting issue you raised.

And importantly, I recommended that in a highly technical discussion, like engineering issues in a 9/11 thread, that you take the extra steps to proofread, because your work will be scrutinized. These are some detail oriented brothers, and a lot of cranks make excuses about how their bad work 'was just a typo'.

I said you were genuine. I also missed a second reply where i was going to say i missed your "sup".

So no. You are definitely not chopped liver. My apologies if I wasnt more clear when i was responding to the guy talking about the poor mechanic that cant type.

To be clear. Your reply was totally cool and appreciated. My apologies if the one to the mechanic guy made you sound any other way.

I did announce i wouldnt proof read. It was a comment with more meaning than just surface level. I believe that meaning is still there without me explaining it.

I also said i now type on a marry-go-round drinking gin.

That should have been an indication that i was saying it in jest.

But anyway....

Here let me be. Crystal clear.

That message was created because there are groups in every forum that control narrative and acceptable content.

There are groups that will dismiss and alienate new members when they add a new opinion that is not currently accepted.

They will do that without addressing your content if necessary.

I want to have discussions on here and I know what is coming. I made the opening statement as a reference point for when that happens. And it will.

Cool bro. Just so you know, that mechanic guy bruto is very cool. His criticism.was not directed at you personally, but his thoughts on the idea of proofreading. A lot of posters roll that way here, like commenting on the abstract, without meaning it to be addressed to the poster personally. One of our rules, rule 12, specifically warns to "address the argument, not the arguer", so we get into a habit of talking about what a poster says, not who he is, if you take my meaning.

Lost my following (now Watching) when this went to the continuation.

Thanks. Thats very kind of you. I read them once but I wouldnt have understood that.

Thanks. Thats very kind of you. I read them once but I wouldnt have understood that.
There's three big rules here that a ton of the actioning gets fueled by: rules 0, 12, and 11. Rule Zero is be polite and civil, and rule 12 is address the argument, not the arguer. These two go hand in hand a lot of the time. Forum management wants this to not devolve into catfights and bickering and all that.

The other is rule 11, derailing. That just means if the topic is 9/11, don't start talking about Roe v Wade, even if the conversation kinda detours in that direction.

That's it, pretty much. Stay on topic and don't get too nasty or personal. In the Community subforum, they are not enforced quite as stringently, because it's more like the lounge for kidding around.

Have fun, man. There's a lot going on here to interest you, and a lot of posters who will challenge you and get you thinking.
