That's a pretty baller little virus. It's no stuxnet, but not by much. Like one of those wasps that drives around other bugs, or lays its eggs in living frogs.

I clicked that link and the website was such a mess that I half expect to have invited a virus in

Yes, if you're on Mac or Linux you can safely download and run dodgy installers without a second thought.

I was under the impression that Edge is just Chrome with the serial numbers ground off.

Hmm... It looks like Edge is Chrome with a bit of MS embrace, extend, extinguish attached.

My bad.

However, Edge can also be installed on MacOS and linux, so I'm not getting the quibble...

I agree, that page has a crapton of ads on it.

I'm using Firefox with uBlock Origin, and read the page using Firefox's Reader Mode. It displayed very nicely that way.

Bottom line: ad blockers are almost a necessity these days when browsing the web. I've long gotten over any guilt I may have had for costing a website a few hundredths of a penny when I visit it because I'm blocking ads. The web advertising companies did it to themselves with their race-to-the-bottom-and-start-digging tactics, and the web sites by cramming them into every nook and cranny on the page.
