The article itself doesn't really have much new, not to those of us who've participated in discussions here in the past. But: The War Zone blog at thedrive.com has a thread today that centers around a lot of Colin Scoggins' observations regarding air traffic control and general aviation procedures and events on September 11th.

It's really a lot of the same stuff that Gumboot has posted in the past too, but again: It's always nice to see Scoggins get recognized for what positive things he did on that day. And also, to see what he and others have identified as the issues that exacerbated the confusion amongst controllers and others during the event.

---

Also: Checking in for my usual Sept 11th appearance here. I can't tell you how amusing it is to continue to see 1. "They removed the debris too quickly!", 2. That CIT somehow still lives, and 3. More "Here's my video smoking gun!" lunacy. And in a way, how depressing, but the state of societal intellectualism has been painfully revealed as lacking by the internet for decades now. This is just the same stuff, still as devoid of rationality 21 years later.

Ugh.

Anyway, hello again folks!

Hello! :)

And thanks for the article.

Hello! :)

And thanks for the article.

No prob.

That blog also published a second article, this time with the POVs from an RAF E-3 air controller and a Vermont ANG F-16 pilot.

I need to read that next. I haven't seen much from the perspective of units outside the ones involved on that day. Should be interesting.

Mondo!

Good to know you're still about.

Yep, still around, still kickin' rocks & stuff. Haven't had much reason to post here for a while, but I still feel like coming around every so often and reading things. Still occasionally think of folks here. Wish I could've met T.A.M in person at some point over the years. Ditto Gravy; I'd gladly buy either of them a beer. Same for R.Mackey. Hell, I'd even buy ole Beechnut a beer, but I'd be worried that it'd interfere with his Metamucil...

Hell, I'd even buy you a beer, just so long as I could ensure you wouldn't roofie my drink in return. :p

Anyway, nice blabbing at you all. I should come around more often, even if there's not anything new to say about stuff.

The War Zone: The Drive

I read the article the other day by Emma Helfrich. Yeah nothing new except since I retired I have been a little more forthcoming on my opinion of upper management failures at the FAA. Other than that nothing really new. Funny I commented on an article back in May I think regarding MQ-4/RQ-4’s and passed on an incident I was involved with a Navy RQ-4 that couldn’t land at Navy PAX or at Wallops Island. Navy Brunswick had closed but we had to work out a procedure for it to land or to ditch it into the Atlantic, so they responded to my comments and ended up talking about 9/11 and other FAA incidents. But really nothing new then what I have discussed before.
