When we moved to Xenfora some of the signature options didn't come over. In the old software signatures were limited by a character limit, on Xenfora there are more options and there is a character number and number of lines limit. I've set maximum number of lines to 4 and unlimited characters.

Not long after I get home, I crack open the TAM 7 DVDs I just bought in Vegas, and turns out that disc 2 is a dud - computer won't mount it, and spits it out. The others are all fine. Is this a known issue by any chance?

Pity it was bought in Australia where you would be entitled to a refund or replacement for a faulty product. No idea what your rights are in the USA.

My disc two of the same set works.

I had a similar problem with a couple of the DVDs from the TAM 7 set. They wouldn't play properly (I think they played up to a point, then would stop or freeze) on my stand-alone DVD player.

I think the JREF store would probably have exchanged them for another set if I'd sent them back, but since they played OK on my PC I decided to copy each to a blank DVDR, which then played fine on my player.

Bit of a hassle, though as mentioned I would imagine the JREF would exchange faulty DVDs for new ones if you ask. I think they do need to check the equipment they are using to make their DVDs as something clearly isn't working 100%.

I'm giving the JREF staff a couple days to relax post-TAM... I'm sure that we can come to an arrangement. I'm just encoding the videos for use on my ipod at the moment and that disc dies.

If any other DVD movie that I purchase from a store doesn't work in my DVD player but works in my computer, it doesn't work. Kind of like defining how someone should hold their iPhone in order to have it work. :)

You seem to make the assumption that the JREF wouldn't voluntarily make good on this.

No clue what official laws are in place, but it appears to be common practice for reputable vendors (who want to remain in good standing with their customers) to replace faulty merchandise regardless of what the law does or doesn't require. I'd be very surprised if this came down to an issue of country-specific rights. :)

You can contact rich@randi.org for a replacement if there's a faulty disc. You'll get a better response if you contact the JREF directly than by posting on the forum. Sorry for the problems.
