Apparently you aren't familiar with my approach. I'm not interested in discussing the bigger picture with you, given the state of knowledge that shines through your posts. Everyone is already familiar with your point of view because they can read it - written more professionally - all the time in their "paper of record" of choice. I'm interested in providing additional information to events as they happen, with focus on exposing lies of the "western" media. Building a track record over time. And that's exactly what I'm doing. If people like you think that makes me a "Yanukovych supporter" is completely without relevance to me. Or a "pro-sessionist-Putin side" supporter. This is so far from reality - including the idea that Putin has that masterplan to "annex" the south-east region - that it's beyond discussion and a total waste of time to reply to. If you want to discuss the events as they happen, that's fine. Any theories about who tried to killed the mayor of Charkow?

So then you're just trolling when you post pictures like the one in Post# 2208?

Oh, how I love those frequent outrage articles on SPIEGEL these days. If it is the audience who floods them with "Putin-understander" comments, or the SIEMENS boss telling politics to downgrade the rhetoric, or whoever it is who doesn't follow their transatlantic pre$$titude script. Today it's Schröder. Worthy of a tabloid: "They are hugging, the ex-chancellor laughs. Gerhard Schröder celebrates his [belated] 70th birthday with his old friend Putin. In the middle of the Ukraine crisis." The audacity!!!!!!!1 In fact without Nord Stream we would be much more vulnerable to whatever pipeline games the bankrupt putschists in Kiew come up with next. Alles Gute, alter Sack!

"Whew, it's a good thing we're beholden to the totally trustworthy and not at all corrupt, aggressive, and imperialist Putin, rather than having to rely on the Ukrainians!"

Because there's no way that could go wrong.

Well, we have to rely on somebody for our natural resources, and the Russians have always stuck to their words even in much more difficult times (for them), and what might come out of the fact that the putschist regime doesn't pay a single rubel anymore was explained at length in letters posted here but you likely have long forgotten or didn't care to take notice of in the first place.

Americans, on the other hand, have made themselves known by breaking every word they ever gave at least since they think they are the Masters of the Universe, and their puppets (in this case those with a long history of annual pipeline dramatics) are encouraged to do so as well. Ask humanity.

So nobody is impressed when they "offer" moronic swap schemes based on the long since proven ridiculous projection of what the already collapsing "fracking" market will allow them to do.

edit: The Ukrainians don't fill the pipelines, btw, just in case that is an important information for understanding my post, A'isha.

You can not be serious.

Because your adjectives corrupt, aggressive and imperialist don't fit the US and you think I just made a fatalist statement, right? A'isha, you're way above your head in what you are trying to discuss here. I'd recommend Chomsky as a starting point but you already swallowed the proto-fascist critique of him, so I'm afraid I can't help you out of the state reached by over-assimilation. But I would appreciate if you'd stop trying to make cheap point on that quest here.

Ignoring contrary viewpoints?

Exposure to alternate POVs can be so distressing.

I'm interested in providing additional information to events as they happen, with focus on exposing lies of the "western" media. Building a track record over time. And that's exactly what I'm doing.

So focused the obvious lies of one side you don't acknowledge those of the other.

Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

I doubt it's a master plan, more of a "make it up as you go along" sort of deal. Putin's an opportunist and he's taking advantage of an opportunity he cannot ignore.

If you want to discuss the events as they happen, that's fine. Any theories about who tried to killed the mayor of Charkow?

No, there hasn't been enough information presented to make a case.

Adjectives corrupt? Why, are they evil capitalist adjectives?

Your post is nothing but a vapid ad-hominem attack. It's not a cheap point at all. Your assertion is factually incorrect. Putin's massive corruption feeding contracts and money to not only his own investments but that of his friends is well documented. He just invaded a neighboring country with whom he had a treaty to respect the sovereignty of on the threat that they might have increased ties to the EU, and not be as totally economically dependent on Russia. They're the abusive boyfriend of natural resource economics. They care so much they'll kill you if you even think about leaving them. For your own good of course.

You just hand-wave it all as not valid because it's 'western information'. Well maybe it would be coming from Russian media too, if they didn't keep being murdered.

Adjectives 'corrupt', 'aggressive' and 'imperialist'. Not that I'm surprised that you failed to understand this in context with the post I responded to, because you made yourself known as a strong believer already, much more than A'isha will ever be. I bet you 'served'.

Yup, I'm wrong because you don't get the joke. Great, keep using that argument.

Your ad-hom, tu quoque, hand-waving is very effective at showing everyone how valid your critical thinking skills are.

Actually I don't think your critical thinking skills are the problem specifically. But ideology blinds you. You're talking to people who have been heavily critical of US actions, yet you dismiss them as western imperialist believers. Congratulations, you do more damage to your cause than any of us ever could. Thank you.

:sdl:

Weak. But at least you're not as easily trolled as I thought. ;)

Come up with an instance where Russia hasn't fulfilled an energy contract with Europe to the last word if you want to make good of that 'adjective' line.

Here's a video of captured and released journalist Simon Ostrovsky talking about his time in the hands of the "mayor of Sloviansk". He's the guy reporting for Vice News whom I featured some time ago running around Maidan clueless of the reason why the Right Sektor went to bang on the doors of Parliament that night - to make the interior minister resign because he allegedly murdered the nazi thug Musychko.

Likely the same position the not-OSCE-observers are in now. I don't take everything he says there on face value, though, but most of it and for the record, I think if the occupiers in the East would have been smart, they should have waited two or three days from the Geneva agreement to make it plausible that they don't receive orders from Russia, and then retract to their homes at least for the moment, bringing Kiev into pressure to react. But apparently there's nobody thinking in that dimension there. They seem to think Russia will "liberate" them or a referendum will do so, but clearly they aren't in a majority for that referendum sharing separatist thoughts, as shown this evening in Donetsk again, and clearly Russia isn't keen on taking them (why should they?). Other theory, significant people are controlled by some local oligarchs for whatever personal gain, as outlined already. Hey, that's still better than your conspiracy theory that Putin controls dem'all with his mindcontrol waves!

Exactly. Yours isn't alternative, though. While mine is. You'll get used to being exposed to it on my terms if you want to stick around.

In this you would be incorrect - my point of view is an alternative to yours in the exact same way that yours is an alternative to mine.

I've been exposed to your and similar POV for a number of years, in addition to a full spectrum of other views. I can't say that the "west is bad" is any less biased than the "anything but the west is bad".

I think she's saying that your view isn't "edgy alternative" in a punk-rock contrarian sort of way. You know, you aren't cool enough to be in her West-hating dictator hugging club.

Of course, that her view is whatever is spewed by the Kremlin contributes to it's "edgy alternativeness", as everything Russian is cool.

Which is what I knew was meant, I'm just making sure she knows that "alternate view" doesn't just mean "confirms my preconception that the mainstream is wrong".

More juvenile whining. How goes the German saying? "Wie der Herr, so's Gescherr." Pepe Escobar:

Asia Times said:
The Barack Obama administration seems to love the sound of unilateral sanctions in the morning. It must feel like "victory".

Real, hardcore sanctions, if ever applied, would be devastating mostly for North Atlantic Treaty Organization poodles, not Moscow. Meanwhile, (energy) adults continue to do business as usual.

There's no way to understand Cold War 2.0 without a flashback to November 2010, when Vladimir Putin directly addressed German business/industry, proposing an economic community from Lisbon to Vladivostok.

German interest in this key strategic relationship has been reciprocal. Amplified to other nations, that implies in the long run a full European Union-Russia economic/trade integration, and, in the bigger picture, a step closer to Europe-Asia integration. Which translates as absolute anathema for the embattled, Monopoly-addicted hyperpower/hegemon.

For all of US Think Tankland talking and theorizing, breathlessly, about "containment" of a "rogue state" - which in itself is laughable, as if Russia was Somalia - the Obama administration's overarching "strategy" is really in a class by itself. This masterpiece of juvenile delinquent diplomacy boils down to "ignore Putin".

Call it the "I don't like you; I don't wanna talk to you; I just wish you'd die" school of diplomacy. How come Talleyrand never thought if it? Well, with advisers such as the astonishing mediocrity Ivo Daalder, a former ambassador to NATO, no wonder Obama does not need enemies. [...]
