Chris Christie: Pot legalization is bad because we'll have more small businesses

Chris Christie on marijuana legalization:

Go to Colorado and see if you want to live there. See if you want to live in a major city in Colorado, where there are headshops popping up on every corner, and people flying into your airport just to get high.

To me, it's not the quality of life we want to have here in the state of New Jersey. And here's no tax revenue that's worth that.

Yep, it's tourism and small businesses that are making Colorado the hellhole it is today. I'm sure every resident of that unfortunate state wishes Colorado could be more like New Jersey.

The man's pretty far out of touch if he really thinks that a resident of New Jersey or any other state needs to fly to Colorado to buy pot.

My step father, a staunch Fox watching conservative, just came back from a trip to Colorado. He's never been too keen on pot being illegal but was still alright with people going to jail for it. After seeing it in Colorado he's strongly for legalization and thinks putting people away for it is stupid beyond belief. That other conservatives have the exact opposite reaction is to be expected, but some actually are open to evidence.

I expect that Christie would support pot leagization if all the pot was sold on some sort of island that had one bridge to connect it to the mainland. The arguments just get sillier and sillier - from the DEA chief's recent worry about pets getting into pot supplies (shades of the scare story that led to another retarded prohibition, California's prohibition of ferret ownership, based in part on fears from a tabloid story on a baby mauled to death by pot-crazed ferrets) to people here in Canada worrying about it leading to increased access by children (was always easier for me to score weed than alcohol - could get weed from 16 year olds, needed a 19+ in Ontario to get me booze!). And now this from Christie.

How do they say these things and not immediately realize how stupid it sounds??

See as "It doesn't ******* work!" isn't effective in convincing prohibitionists, none of their other gristle-brained arguments excuses come as much of a surprise.
